On November 13, Mr. Nguyen Tung Son, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Ha Commune ( Quang Ngai Province), said that heavy rains had caused the water level of Tra Khuc River to rise, causing serious damage to a number of traffic works, especially the Thach Nham spillway bridge located on Provincial Road 624B.

According to the report of Irrigation Management Branch No. 7, during the recent flood, Thach Nham spillway bridge was severely damaged, at the foot of the bridge on the North bank, 2 slabs were washed away, a span adjacent to the bridge slope was also washed away, not ensuring structural safety.

The People's Committee of Son Ha commune has announced and recommended that people temporarily stop traveling through Thach Nham spillway bridge, and at the same time directed the commune police and related forces to coordinate with Irrigation Management Branch No. 7 to set up barriers and put up warning signs to prevent people and vehicles from approaching the area to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
However, despite the barriers and warning signs, people still temporarily fix the problem to cross.

Faced with the above situation, Mr. Nguyen Tung Son said: "The locality immediately deployed police forces to set up warning barriers, regularly check the Thach Nham spillway site, and absolutely prohibit traffic while waiting for repairs."
At the same time, guide people to proactively choose a safe route, moving towards Phuoc Loc bridge or Thach Bich bridge.

Son Ha Commune People's Committee also requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Department of Construction, and Quang Ngai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited to coordinate with relevant units to inspect and assess the current state of damage to Thach Nham spillway bridge, promptly take measures to ensure safety and repair the project, in order to restore safe traffic and stabilize people's lives and production.
