In the context of an increasingly competitive agricultural market, establishing sustainable and stable supply chains for agricultural products has become an urgent requirement. The project "Building a model for linking the consumption of OCOP products and agricultural products for members of the Phu Tho Provincial Farmers' Association," implemented from October 2023 to December 2025, has shown clear effectiveness, opening up a sustainable path for many farmers and cooperatives in the province.

The project, spearheaded by the Provincial Farmers' Association, aims to build a model for linking the consumption of OCOP products and agricultural products along the value chain. Through this, the various levels of the Association act as a "bridge," supporting farmers from production to consumption; connecting products with stores, distributors, and e-commerce platforms; and simultaneously promoting and providing market information.

Through its implementation, the project surveyed the current situation, standardized production processes, organized training, connected consumption, and promoted the formation of sustainable linkages between businesses, cooperatives, and farmers. This is considered a fundamental solution to increase added value, stabilize income, and expand markets for OCOP products and local agricultural products.

Established in 2021 with 7 members, the Thanh Son Sour Meat Cooperative in Thanh Son commune, Phu Tho province, aims to transform the traditional sour meat dish of the Muong ethnic group into a high-quality commercial product. Mr. Dinh Quoc Binh, Director of the cooperative, shared: "Currently, there are many sour meat production and processing facilities in Thanh Son commune. Therefore, to create a unique characteristic, the cooperative always prioritizes product quality and adheres strictly to production processes. From the raw material selection stage, we set very high standards. The meat must be fresh, clean, and have a clear origin, combined with a blend of spices according to a traditional recipe to create a product with a distinctive aroma." With a closed production process and strict quality control, the product quickly gained the trust of consumers...

Thanks to the support of the consumption linkage project, the cooperative's bamboo tube fermented pork product has standardized labeling (40,000 labels printed), quality control, and sales volume reached 89,800 boxes, far exceeding the initial target (50,000 boxes). Currently, the product is available in more than 21 provinces and cities from North to South, including Hanoi, Thai Binh , Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, etc. The cooperative currently has Bamboo Tube Fermented Pork products that have achieved OCOP 4-star rating, Fermented Pork with Garlic and Chili (4-star rating), and Traditional Fermented Pork (3-star rating).

Established in 2020 in Phu Khe commune, Thanh Lam Agricultural and Food Cooperative initially had 9 members, and has now grown to 14. Mr. Hoang Trung Thang - Director of Thanh Lam Agricultural and Food Cooperative shared: The model attracted 32 households to participate, with a total raw material area of 7 hectares. The harvest yielded over 15 tons of fresh flowers, equivalent to 1.5 tons of dried flowers - exceeding the initial target of 1.3 tons of dried flowers. In 2024, the cooperative's revenue reached 1.5 billion VND, creating jobs for 20 local workers with an income of over 6 million VND per month. In addition, the cooperative also undertakes tea processing and packaging for many other units, demonstrating its potential for sustainable value chain expansion.

The effectiveness of the partnership model is clearly evident.

In addition to supporting farmers and cooperatives, the project also supports retail outlets, bringing agricultural products to the digital environment. For example, the model for maintaining and connecting retail outlets has selected 20 outlets in various provinces and cities, connecting them to the consumption of 23 typical OCOP products. After 6-12 months of implementation, the revenue of these outlets increased by an average of 5-20%, with two outlets experiencing an increase of over 20%. The model also supports the provision of information and consumption of agricultural products through various media channels. Currently, 50 products have been listed on the e-commerce platform giaothuong.net.vn, and a Zalo group with 100 cooperatives and producers has been established to support market information exchange. The "Nong San Dat To" (Agricultural Products of the Ancestral Land) fanpage is also actively promoting products widely.

Evaluating the implementation results, Ms. Le Thi Quynh – Vice President of the Provincial Farmers' Association, commented: The project has clear scientific and practical value. The successful development of the consumption linkage model not only brings economic benefits but also opens up a direction for development along the value chain, improving the lives of members and farmers, and promoting sustainable agricultural development...

The Acceptance Council of the Department of Science and Technology requested the lead unit to further refine the report and add recommendations to expand the model in the future.

The model of linking the consumption of OCOP products and agricultural products in Phu Tho is proving to be the right direction in the context of agriculture needing sustainable, professionalized, and market-oriented solutions. Starting from small cooperatives, the model has paved the way for local products to reach further, contributing to affirming the brand of agricultural products from the ancestral land on the national agricultural map.
