To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the normalization of relations between Vietnam and the United States and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), the Department of Foreign Market Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham Vietnam), is organizing the Vietnam-US Trade Forum 2025 with the theme “30 Years of Economic and Trade Cooperation - Overcoming Challenges, Entering a New Era”.

The forum took place in the context of Vietnam - US relations continuing to develop positively, increasingly in depth and substance, especially on the pillars of economics , trade and investment.
Three decades after the normalization of relations and 25 years of implementing the BTA, bilateral trade has grown significantly in both scale and quality, becoming a crucial driver of economic growth, job creation, and strengthening supply chain linkages between the two highly complementary economies.

Against the backdrop of profound global economic and trade adjustments, the forum also frankly discussed emerging challenges, including the adjustment of US trade policy, the increasing trend of tariffs and trade protection measures, as well as the growing demands for technical standards, sustainable development, and supply chain transparency . The presentations provided multifaceted perspectives on outstanding achievements, prospects for cooperation, and structural issues that need continued attention in the future.
In addition, the roundtable discussion on US trade policy and its implications for Vietnam created a space for open and substantive exchange between government agencies, the business community, and export associations . Discussions focused on analyzing the impact of tariff policies and trade defense measures, while proposing solutions to enhance adaptability, diversify markets, and strengthen the competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses.
