Master the technique

Thirty exemplary individuals from the province will attend the 11th National Emulation Congress in 2025, including Mr. Truong Van Hieu. Mr. Hieu has worked at Agimexpharm Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company since 2008. A graduate of the Electrical Engineering and Power Supply program, Mr. Hieu held the position of technical staff. With his outstanding achievements, Mr. Hieu was appointed as the head of the technical team, then deputy director, and finally technical director.

Designing, improving, and building a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for the HVAC system in the cream, ointment, and liquid manufacturing plant at Agimexpharm Pharmaceutical Factory is the initiative that Mr. Hieu is most proud of. Mr. Hieu shared: “For the pharmaceutical industry, controlling temperature and humidity in the controlled environment used for drug production (clean rooms) plays a crucial role in drug quality. Previously, operating machinery in the factory was mainly done using electrical cabinets and push buttons. Whenever staff reported a problem in the clean room or excessively high temperature or humidity, I had to handle it myself or assign staff to the control room to adjust the temperature, sometimes not in a timely manner. Meanwhile, the investment cost for building an automated monitoring system was very high, making implementation difficult.”

During his time studying for a master's degree in automation, Mr. Hieu was exposed to many innovative topics and technical improvements on remote monitoring systems. After struggling for a long time and finding a way out, Mr. Hieu decided to do his master's thesis with the topic "Self-design, improve and build a control, monitoring and data acquisition system (SCADA) for the HVAC system for the cream - fat - water workshop at the Agimexpharm Pharmaceutical Factory". The successful implementation of the topic solved the problems at the factory. When the system was put into operation, through the LAN, Mr. Hieu could still monitor, track, operate, adjust the temperature up and down, and promptly handle problems while sitting in his office.

To master the technology, Mr. Hieu and his colleagues in the technical department independently installed many machines and equipment, refurbished old and damaged equipment and machinery to get them working properly again, helping the company increase productivity, efficiency, and reduce production costs. Among a series of projects that have left a mark on Mr. Hieu's career is the initiative to apply sealed plate heat exchanger technology to cool chillers and reuse waste heat to treat temperature and humidity for the air treatment system of the pharmaceutical manufacturing plant serving the GMP-certified drug production line. Mr. Hieu helped the company save 195 million VND in installation costs and approximately 360 million VND in electricity costs per year. In addition, treating temperature and humidity with hot water effectively reduces electricity consumption, so chillers operate optimally and the surrounding environment is cooler.

Inspirational

All of Mr. Truong Van Hieu's technical innovation initiatives stem from practical work experience, aiming to solve difficulties and optimize production processes at the lowest possible cost. During the implementation of these initiatives, Mr. Hieu encountered numerous challenges as many issues were new, requiring in-depth knowledge and extensive experience. The company provided him with opportunities to participate in technology fairs, study tours, and learn from experiences in many countries around the world to keep up with new technologies and enhance his knowledge and thinking. To successfully balance his work and research, Mr. Hieu manages his time effectively , constantly learning, exploring, and researching.

Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - Deputy Factory Manager of My Thoi Factory, Agimexpharm Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, shared: “Mr. Hieu always demonstrates a strong innovative mindset and effective leadership skills; he proactively proposes many highly applicable technical improvement initiatives that optimize processes, reduce labor for employees, and increase the productivity of the entire production line.”

According to Mr. Truong Van Hieu, the company's leader, the company's grassroots union executive board always cares about and creates the best conditions for employees to implement technical innovation initiatives, motivating employees to be creative and dedicated. "I am very honored to receive many awards for creative labor and attend the National Patriotic Emulation Congress in 2025. I always strive and make efforts every day so that I do not fall behind the rapid development of technology. At the same time, I always encourage my colleagues to support each other to create new values for the development of the company," Mr. Hieu confided.

Mr. Truong Van Hieu won the Ton Duc Thang Award for the second time in 2023; was awarded a certificate of creative labor by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in 2021 and 2023; the People's Committee of An Giang province awarded a certificate of merit for outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Good worker, creative worker" in 2022, 2023, 2024; the Union of Science and Technology Associations of An Giang province honored "Outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals of An Giang province in 2025".
