In his opening remarks at the Kaamatan festival in Sabah, Prime Minister Anwar outlined budget-saving measures, including limiting foreign trips by ministers. Simultaneously, the size of delegations has been reduced, and accommodation standards have been adjusted to be more economical.
Government training programs are now being held at state-owned facilities instead of luxury hotels. Mr. Anwar emphasized that without careful and calculated spending, Malaysia would face considerable difficulties.

The Malaysian Prime Minister stated that budgets for ministries would be cut for non-essential spending, but funding would remain for key areas such as education , healthcare, and basic infrastructure.
In addition, he stated that the Malaysian government has made efforts to strengthen governance and combat corruption in order to restore the country's financial standing. These austerity and budget recovery measures have allowed the Malaysian government to reallocate 15.5 billion ringgit (US$3.9 billion) to the people through various initiatives.
