According to initial observations at the examination sites, candidates seemed pleased because the questions were "open-ended and easy".

The candidates beamed with joy, boasting about the easy exam.

As one of the first to leave, Nguyen Mai Chi (a student from Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School) excitedly ran to hug her mother. Chi enthusiastically said, "I did quite well on the exam. This year's test was manageable, not tricky. The structure of the test was similar to the sample tests our teachers gave us to review in class. I'm confident I can get a score of 7.5 or higher."

Sharing a relaxed mood, Hoang Minh (whose first choice was Nguyen Khuyen High School) commented that this year's social commentary essay was very relatable. "This topic is so familiar that I wrote very smoothly, drawing examples directly from my own story," Minh revealed.

At the exam center at Ba Ria High School (Ba Ria Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), most candidates assessed the Literature exam as relatively easy. "I think the exam was okay, not too difficult. I predict I'll get 7 points," said Nguyen Do Cat Tuong, a student from Nguyen Du Secondary School, and affirmed her readiness for the English exam this afternoon.

Sharing the same opinion, Nguyen Le Thanh Nhan, a student from Ba Ria High School, said that this year's exam was of moderate difficulty for the candidates. "I found this year's literature exam not too difficult, easy to score well on," Nhan said.

At the exam site at Phu Hoa Secondary School in Phu Loi ward, many candidates were smiling brightly because they did well on the exam, and some even received flowers from their relatives as encouragement.

Seeing the candidates happy after the exam, many parents also breathed a sigh of relief. Mr. Quoc Canh, a parent who brought his child to the exam at Vo Minh Duc High School in Thu Dau Mot ward, said that this was the first time his family had a child taking the 10th grade entrance exam, so they were quite worried at first, but he was very happy when his child said they did well on the exam.

At the exam center at Ban Co Secondary School (Ban Co Ward), candidate Dinh Le Thien Di (Le Quy Don Secondary School) assessed this year's literature exam as quite easy, manageable, and relevant to real life, addressing issues that young people face, such as understanding emotions. Di was most impressed with this section and confident she would score 8 points.

Immediately after leaving the exam room, student Dang Trung Hieu (Thang Long Secondary School) was greeted by his mother with a bright smile, saying the exam was quite easy but also had a differentiating factor. Hieu said he spent a little more time on part I of question 1b and question 1a in part II. But overall, he did quite well and thinks he's confident of scoring 7.5 - 8 points.

At the Quang Trung Secondary School examination center, most candidates left feeling quite relaxed. Many commented that this year's exam questions were close to reality, not too tricky, and had a more manageable difficulty level compared to previous years.

As soon as they left the exam room, some candidates couldn't hide their excitement. "This year's exam was so easy, teacher!", Mạnh Phúc and Viên Phúc - students from Trường Sơn Secondary School - happily shared with their teacher.

"I found the exam similar to a final exam, not too difficult and not designed to trick the candidates. The ideas kept appearing continuously while I was working on it, so I didn't encounter many difficulties. Compared to some of the entrance exams in Ho Chi Minh City in previous years, I found this year's exam easier," Mạnh Phúc commented.

Sharing the same view, Vien Phuc assessed the exam questions as having practical significance, reflecting issues close to current life. The content of the questions prompted reflection on the lifestyle of young people in a context where many are gradually being swept up in a busy pace of life and paying less attention to their own feelings as well as those of the people around them.

"I'm quite confident with my work and hope to achieve the score I want to get into my favorite high school," Vien Phuc shared.

At the exam center at Colette Secondary School in Xuan Hoa ward, candidate Cao Tri said that this year's exam questions were quite relatable and revolved around the theme of emotions. This was an open-ended question, allowing students to express their thoughts and personal opinions. According to Tri, emotions are important to everyone, so the exam's theme wasn't too unfamiliar to students of this age group.

By self-assessment, Tri believes he completed about 70-80% of the exam requirements. After finishing the first exam, he felt quite relaxed and hoped to achieve good results in this year's 10th grade entrance exam.

Similarly, candidate Thao Chau said she wrote about two pages of exam paper: "This year's exam was easier than previous semester exams and mock exams. The exam topic was quite familiar, so students had plenty of material to develop their writing."

At the exam center at Vo Truong Toan Secondary School (Saigon Ward), Mr. Nguyen Lai, a parent of a student who hopes to enroll in Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, shared: "I didn't ask my child how they did on the exam because they were smiling brightly and happily from afar. I hope they continue to be happy with the exam this afternoon."

"While my child was worried inside the exam room, we were ten times more worried out here. Hearing that he did well and that the literature exam wasn't too stressful made me feel so relieved. It's like half the pressure for the next subjects has been lifted," confided Mr. Tran Van Hung (residing in Tan Binh District).

Teachers' assessment of the literature exam: The exam was of appropriate difficulty and aligned with the admissions objectives.

Dr. Ho Khanh Van, Lecturer at the Faculty of Literature and Linguistics, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), and visiting lecturer at the High School for the Gifted, said that this year's literature exam was quite manageable for candidates, and the content touched on a hot issue of the times but was very humane: human emotions in the age of technology.

According to Dr. Khanh Van, most of the exam questions were similar to the sample questions previously published by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training. However, the exam still included questions designed to differentiate candidates, requiring independent thinking, application of reasoning skills, and analytical abilities.

Part II, and specifically question number 2 of the reading comprehension section, exhibits this differentiating nature.

Overall, this year's exam questions are appropriate for the requirements of an entrance exam, clearly reflecting the reform policies that the city's education sector has implemented for many years. In particular, the questions are quite manageable and suitable for candidates in Ho Chi Minh City after the merger.
