The domestic pepper market on December 10th saw inconsistent price adjustments across localities, with common trading prices ranging from 147,500 to 149,500 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the global market remained relatively stable.

Trends in domestic pepper prices

Specifically, in Gia Lai, the price of pepper decreased by 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday, falling to 147,500 VND/kg, the lowest price recorded. Conversely, the price in Dak Lak increased slightly by 500 VND/kg, reaching 149,500 VND/kg, the same as in Lam Dong province.

In other localities such as Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, pepper prices remained stable at 148,000 VND/kg. This slight fluctuation reflects the cautious sentiment of the market in the context of a sharp drop in coffee prices, causing both growers and traders to be more cautious in year-end transactions.

According to data from the International Pepper Association (IPC), export pepper prices in major markets around the world remained unchanged during the morning trading session on December 10th.

  • Indonesia: Lampung black pepper prices remain at US$6,995/ton; Muntok white pepper is US$9,643/ton.
  • Brazil: ASTA black pepper prices remain at $6,250 per ton.
  • Malaysia: The price of ASTA black pepper is US$9,200/ton; the price of ASTA white pepper is US$12,300/ton.
  • Vietnam: Export prices for white pepper are at US$9,250/ton; black pepper (500 gr/l) is at US$6,500/ton and (550 gr/l) is at US$6,700/ton.

Despite the prolonged period of quiet trading, observers believe that the supply-demand balance is gradually tightening, potentially leading to more unpredictable changes in the coming period as the market enters the year-end phase.
