Swimming has a series of events such as men's 100m backstroke, men's 100m freestyle, women's 200m butterfly, men's 200m individual medley, women's 50m breaststroke and women's 4x100m freestyle relay. All of them ended on the same day, meaning the hope of bringing home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese delegation. Vietnam has high expectations for the men's 100m backstroke, men's 100m freestyle and especially the men's 200m individual medley.

In the 200m individual medley, Tran Hung Nguyen is virtually unrivaled in the region. Since his breakout performance at the 2019 SEA Games, he has won the gold medal in this event in three consecutive SEA Games and continues to be considered the top contender.
