Responding to a request for comment on the fact that the digitally displayed map of Vietnam at the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games omitted the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said that Vietnamese authorities have been working with the SEA Games 33 Organizing Committee of Thailand regarding the error in the display of the Vietnamese map at the recent SEA Games 33 opening ceremony.

"Once again, Vietnam affirms its indisputable sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in accordance with international law," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized.

Regarding the situation of Vietnamese citizens in conflict zones between Thailand and Cambodia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated: "Concerning the border situation between Cambodia and Thailand, on December 9th, Vietnamese representative agencies in Cambodia and Thailand issued a warning to Vietnamese citizens not to travel to areas with complex security developments and to proactively plan to leave these areas to ensure the safety of people and property. They also requested citizens to strictly comply with the regulations and guidelines of the local authorities and maintain contact with Vietnamese representative agencies in Cambodia and Thailand."

Citing information recently received from Vietnamese representative agencies in Cambodia and Thailand, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that most Vietnamese citizens in the area have been evacuated to safe areas, far from the conflict zone, following instructions from local authorities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson also added that, in light of the current developments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has consulted with relevant authorities to assess the situation realistically, implemented the guidance of the local authorities, and maintained contact with Vietnamese representative agencies in the host country, as well as key contacts within the Vietnamese community, to gather information and prepare necessary consular protection measures.
