Meanwhile, in MMA (mixed martial arts), fighter Quang Van Minh brilliantly defeated Tan Yee Siang of Malaysia with a technically skillful TKO in the traditional men's 65 kg final, winning the gold medal.

On the same day of competition, fighter Duong Thi Thanh Binh won a silver medal in the women's 54 kg traditional MMA category, after failing to defeat her opponent Wulan of Indonesia in the final. Despite this encouraging result, MMA, being a newly added sport to this SEA Games, will not be counted towards the overall medal standings.
