Launched by the Hanoi City Youth Union in 2024, the "Reconstruction of Martyrs' Photographs" project has gone through two phases. As of December 12, 2025, a total of 659 photographs have been completely restored.

At the "Journey to Immortality - From Memory to Aspiration" program organized by the Hanoi City Youth Union on the evening of December 12th in Hanoi, nearly 300 restored portraits were handed over to the families and relatives of fallen soldiers.

Among them, the case of martyr Bui Dinh Sau (from Phuc Loc commune, Hanoi, who died in 1979) is particularly noteworthy. It is known that these days, his family is also receiving and bringing his remains from the South back to his birthplace. This fortunate encounter has truly become a sacred and complete story of reunion.

In addition, we can mention martyr Dang Xuan Dao (Khuong Dinh ward, Hanoi, who died in 1970). He fell before his daughter even knew him. The only memento the Hanoi soldier left behind was a blurry portrait photograph. For many years, this has been the only link between martyr Dang Xuan Dao and his daughter.

From faded black-and-white photographs, many of which only retain a few details, the portraits of the heroic martyrs have been fully and clearly recreated using modern technology.

On this occasion, the program's organizing committee also coordinated with relevant units to present many meaningful and valuable gifts to the families and relatives of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and fallen heroes.

The program opened with a stirring dance performance titled "Echoes of the Homeland," recreating the arduous yet glorious and proud journey of struggle.
This is also the first profound expression of gratitude in the entire series of artistic performances that the Youth of Hanoi want to send to the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and fallen heroes.

In the solemn atmosphere of the Vietnam Military History Museum, delegates and 1,500 young people from Hanoi participated in the flag-raising ceremony and observed a minute of silence to remember and express gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives and blood for national independence.

In particular, young people also had the opportunity to listen to many historical witnesses who had directly experienced the flames of war, such as musician Truong Quy Hai and journalist Phung Huy Thinh, recount authentic stories about the ideals and noble sacrifices of previous generations.

According to Nguyen Tien Hung, Secretary of the Hanoi City Youth Union, the program "Immortal Journey - From Memory to Aspiration" is not only a tribute from the younger generation to their elders, but also a political activity that contributes to educating revolutionary ideals, ethics, and a cultured lifestyle for the youth of Hanoi.

Furthermore, the program also aims to concretize the Resolution of the 17th Congress of the Hanoi City Youth Union from the very beginning of the term, clearly affirming the aspirations of young people in preserving and promoting the fine traditional values of the nation, pioneering in digital transformation, and applying science and technology in the activities of the Youth Union organization.
