Lai Chau provides free health check-ups for over 185,000 people.

Doctors at Phong Tho General Hospital provided free health checkups for residents on the morning of June 2nd.

During this campaign, it is expected that more than 185,000 people from vulnerable groups in the area will receive routine health check-ups, equivalent to 37% of Lai Chau 's population. The specific target groups include war veterans, the elderly, those receiving social welfare benefits, people with disabilities, poor households, and near-poor households.

Health check-ups are being conducted at 68 locations throughout the province, including 10 fixed locations at Lai Chau Provincial General Hospital, the Provincial Center for Disease Control, and former district-level general hospitals. 58 mobile locations are being set up at health stations and health station points to facilitate people's access to medical services. The fixed locations began operating on June 2nd, while the mobile locations started operating on June 10th.

It is understood that during this periodic health check-up, people will receive a general clinical examination, health consultation, and screening for some non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes; they will also undergo some basic paraclinical tests such as complete blood count, blood biochemistry, urine tests, and X-rays.

To implement this, the Lai Chau health sector must deploy experienced doctors, nurses, and technicians from hospitals, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and health stations to participate in health check-ups; and mobilize clinical equipment to support the examination and screening process. The examinations are organized by prioritizing target groups and scheduling appropriately to avoid overcrowding and facilitate access for the public.

According to the Lai Chau Department of Health, regular health check-ups or free screenings not only help assess health status, detect early disease risks for appropriate advice, treatment, or referral, but also contribute to raising people's awareness in protecting and caring for their own and their families' health.

Following the first phase, Lai Chau will continue to implement subsequent examination phases for the remaining target groups as stipulated, including people with chronic diseases, people in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, areas with special difficulties, children in educational institutions, primary and secondary school students, workers, and other target groups.
