Thanh Hoa province currently has 674 recognized OCOP products. Of these, 2 are 5-star products, 60 are 4-star products, and 612 are 3-star products. In addition, the province has 18 OCOP products that recently participated in the second round of evaluation and classification in 2026, awaiting official recognition by the Provincial People's Committee. With this number, Thanh Hoa ranks among the top 3 in the country in terms of the number of OCOP products. Many of these products have gradually established their brands and gained market acceptance. High-quality products from the OCOP program not only increase production value but also promote and elevate the brand image of local specialties.
As one of the OCOP (One Commune One Product) entities with high-quality products and having participated since the early days of the OCOP program in the province, Le Gia Food and Trade Co., Ltd. in Hoang Thanh commune has made "spectacular" strides to become a strong brand on the national OCOP map. From a simple, traditional dish, by adhering to strict food safety procedures and using modern packaging, Le Gia shrimp paste and fish sauce have become 5-star national OCOP products. In the second OCOP product evaluation and ranking round in 2026, Le Gia Food and Trade Co., Ltd. had its Le Gia shrimp floss upgraded from 3 to 4 stars, and three other products: Le Gia braised pork with shrimp paste, Le Gia sea shrimp floss, and Le Gia shrimp paste were rated 4 stars.
Mr. Le Anh, the company's director, said: "The OCOP-ranked products have contributed to affirming the value of production, creating motivation for the company to boost production and promotion to expand the market for its products. To date, Le Gia branded products are not only available in domestic supermarket systems, but are also officially exported to many demanding markets such as Japan, South Korea, South Africa, and the United States."
Vinaco Investment and Development Co., Ltd., located in Hac Thanh ward, is one of the province's OCOP product development consulting units, always striving to find unique features to support businesses in developing new OCOP products. Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, the company's director, stated: “Modern consumers don't just buy a physical product; they buy experiences, emotions, and the humanistic values behind it. Therefore, to increase the value of OCOP products, we must integrate local history, culture, and production processes. This creates unique characteristics and humanistic values in the product that cannot be found in any other product.”
A prime example is Thien Duong sticky rice cake from Cam Tu commune, which recently received a 3-star OCOP (One Commune One Product) rating. Although not an unfamiliar product, it embodies profound cultural values; it serves as a bridge for the younger generation to appreciate and preserve traditional crafts, and also acts as a means of promoting the image of the homeland near the sacred fish stream to tourists. Besides its cultural value, the development of Thien Duong sticky rice cake production has indirectly created jobs for dozens of local workers. With its unique qualities, Thien Duong sticky rice cake is well-received by customers, generating revenue of over 1.2 billion VND per year.

Thien Duong's 3-star OCOP product, "Banh Gai" (sticky rice cake), participates in conferences to promote and boost product consumption.
According to Nguyen Hong Thai, Deputy Chief of the Provincial Office for Coordinating New Rural Development, Thanh Hoa province recognizes that product development should not focus solely on quantity but also on depth and quality. Therefore, products evaluated and ranked under the OCOP program are always encouraged to develop in the direction of deep processing, application of science and technology, organic and circular production to enhance value and meet domestic and international market standards. Recognized OCOP products are a combination of technology, product storytelling, and market promotion capabilities. Therefore, OCOP producers always strive to increase product value not only in production but also in distribution channels. Bringing OCOP products to e-commerce platforms (Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop) and applying livestreaming directly from the growing areas has proven highly effective. This method helps reduce intermediary costs, optimize profits for farmers, and bring regional products directly to global consumers.
Thanks to the efforts of departments, localities, and businesses to increase the value of OCOP products, Thanh Hoa province now has more than 40 OCOP products participating in exports, and over 80% of these products are widely consumed in domestic and international markets. This not only brings economic benefits to each product but also affirms the position of Thanh Hoa's OCOP products on the national and global map.
