Gymnastics team does not take Tet holiday, determined to get Olympic ticket

The Gymnastics team did not take a break for the Lunar New Year but practiced continuously to prepare for the two World Cups held in Egypt and Germany.

Tomorrow, February 13, the team will leave for Egypt. The team consists of Nguyen Van Khanh Phong, Trinh Hai Khang, Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien and Van Vi Luong. The team is led by coach Truong Minh Sang.

Nguyen Van Khanh Phong competes in the rings. Trinh Hai Khang competes in the freestyle gymnastics and vault. Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien competes in the pommel horse. Van Vi Luong competes in the freestyle gymnastics and parallel bars.

The two World Cups are an opportunity for athletes to accumulate points for the 2024 Olympic qualifying round. The World Cup in Egypt takes place from February 15-18, while the one in Germany is held from February 22-25. The team's goal is to win at least one Olympic spot.

These 4 athletes are expected to win a place in Paris. They are new members of the team, promising to bring success like their previous seniors such as Dinh Phuong Thanh, Pham Phuoc Hung, Le Thanh Tung,...

Currently, Vietnamese sports only have 4 Olympic spots, belonging to Nguyen Huy Hoang (Swimming), Nguyen Thi That (Biking), Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen (Shooting).

Today, February 12, Mr. Dang Ha Viet - Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Director of the Hanoi National Sports Training Center and leaders of the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation, the Department of Gymnastics (Department of Sports and Physical Training) visited and wished a Happy New Year to the gymnastics team training at the Hanoi National Sports Training Center.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung said that the Center has supported and assigned people to take care of logistics so that the team can have the best conditions to practice and share the Tet atmosphere with the team members.
