From the central Nặm Păm Kindergarten school, we traveled nearly 10 kilometers along a winding mountain road with sharp turns and treacherous ravines to reach the Noong Bẩu village school. This is also the familiar route that the teachers at the school have to take to get to school. Greeting us, teacher Quàng Thị Hồng shared: "My house is nearly 15 kilometers from the school. I have to wake up early and leave at 5:30 a.m. to get to the school. The most difficult thing is that the road from the commune center to the school is mostly dirt and gravel, rough, steep, and slippery, making travel very difficult. It's not a problem in the dry season, but on rainy days, the road is very slippery, and falls are unavoidable."
Upon arriving at the school, the joyful sounds of children's singing filled the mountain landscape. The music and children's laughter blended together, creating a cheerful atmosphere. The Noong Bau kindergarten has three teachers responsible for teaching 60 children aged 2 to 5. Previously, teaching and learning conditions at the school were difficult due to temporary classrooms and a lack of equipment. Thanks to the connection between the Provincial Youth Union and the "Happiness for Children" Project of the Provincial Police, the school received 662 million VND to build two enclosed classrooms, a kitchen, a staff room for teachers, and a playground for children. The project was put into use in October 2024, contributing to improving the quality of childcare and education. The school also received donations from benefactors, including a playground worth 48 million VND and some supplies and toys worth 64 million VND.

To improve the quality of teaching and learning, the teachers at the remote school have implemented many specific solutions linked to practical realities. Accordingly, the teachers not only teach according to rigid lesson plans but also proactively develop educational plans tailored to the specific characteristics of a remote school, paying special attention to life skills education and language development for children – two key factors that help children in mountainous areas become more confident. Professional development activities have also been reformed towards lesson study. The teachers regularly observe each other's lessons and share experiences to improve their pedagogical skills, ensuring that every lesson is an effective learning experience.

Teacher Luong Thi Thim said: "In Noong Bau, the lives of the people are still difficult and lacking, so the education of our children is entrusted to the school. The children have limited ability to speak and understand standard Vietnamese, leading to slow learning. Therefore, we have to teach in their ethnic language so they understand; we guide them on everything from personal hygiene to self-care."
In Noong Bau, the "parent-accompanied" model is being effectively maintained in transporting and caring for children at the school. Awareness campaigns are being intensified to help parents understand and develop good habits for their children's regular school attendance, while also coordinating skill development at home. Ms. Sung A Lia, whose child attends the school, said: "Compared to before, the facilities are much better now. Our family feels more secure sending our children to school and we always strive to work together with the teachers to educate our children."

The classroom, filled with the innocent laughter of children, brightens the otherwise tranquil atmosphere of the Noong Bau highlands. With the love and responsibility of the teachers, and the care, support, and companionship of the community, these young minds are being nurtured and cared for day by day, helping them to grow into useful citizens who will contribute to building their homeland.
