Provincial-level English Olympiad for High School and University Students in 2025

On December 13th, the Son La Provincial Youth Union organized the 2025 Provincial-level English Olympic Competition for students.

Ten teams, each consisting of five members, participated in the competition, competing in a head-to-head format. The teams came from the following schools: Moc Ly High School, Song Ma High School, Chu Van An Primary, Secondary & High School, Van Ho High School, Tay Bac University, and Son La Specialized High School.

In the first round, Start-up, teams take turns answering 20 questions displayed on the screen, covering English vocabulary and grammar; world , Vietnamese, and Son La culture, history, and geography; traditional Son La dishes; and general and academic knowledge. The team that raises their flag fastest wins the right to answer within 5 seconds, creating a lively and exciting competitive atmosphere.

Moving on to Round 2: Culture Branding Project (Traditional Products), the competing teams demonstrated their creative thinking and English language skills in developing ideas and promoting the unique cultural aspects of Son La. In their 3-minute presentations, the contestants confidently introduced, in English, traditional products associated with Son La's clothing, people, and natural landscapes. Many entries were highly praised for their well-structured content, lively presentation, and inspiring message, contributing to spreading the image of Son La to the community and tourists both domestically and internationally.

In the final round: NextGen Cultural Speech, contestants continued to demonstrate their confidence, expressive abilities, and critical thinking skills in English through insightful presentations on local culture and identity in the context of integration; they also directly answered questions from the judging panel, showcasing their confidence, knowledge, and flexible problem-solving skills in English.

At the end of the competition, the organizing committee awarded the first prize to the Exodia team (Son La Specialized High School); two second prizes to the Roots & Wings team (Van Ho High School) and the K62A1 team (Moc Ly High School); three third prizes to the The Nature Keepers team (Moc Ly High School), the Sixma team (Song Ma High School), and the Mosaic Crew team (Chu Van An Secondary & High School); and four consolation prizes to other participating teams.
