At this year's SEA Games 33, the balance has shifted. In the 400m individual medley, which consists of four parts: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle, Quang Thuấn didn't have a particularly outstanding start in the first two heats, but he swam brilliantly as the race progressed, making a powerful surge in the final two parts to create a decisive turning point.

In contrast to the joy on this side of the "green track," Quang Thuan's victory was a quiet disappointment for Hung Nguyen, who had dominated the 400m individual medley event in the last three SEA Games.

On the medal podium, Quang Thuan smiled gently, showing a little shyness as he stood alongside his senior teammate.

This success not only demonstrates Quang Thuan's clear maturity but also affirms the potential for the young swimmer, the younger brother of Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, to reach even greater heights.

Also on the evening of December 12th, the men's 1,500m freestyle final took place, featuring swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang.

Nguyen Huy Hoang continued to demonstrate his undeniable class. Despite facing immense pressure from 15-year-old prodigy Russel Pang (Singapore) and teammate Mai Tran Tuan Anh in the first half of the race, the Vietnamese swimmer calmly accelerated in the later stages, then pulled ahead of everyone to take control of the race.

Huy Hoang finished first, winning the gold medal with a time of 15 minutes 19 seconds 58.

The joy was complete when Mai Tran Tuan Anh also performed brilliantly, overcoming his Singaporean opponent to win the silver medal, thus demonstrating the high-quality succession in long-distance swimming events in Vietnam.
