According to the VNA correspondent in Paris, on the evening of December 12, the Vietnamese Film Week in Paris officially concluded with a special highlight: "Red Rain" - a film that once set a box office record in Vietnam and represented Vietnam in the Oscar competition - was presented to a large audience at Pathé Palace, a venue associated with the origins of world cinema.
The film demonstrates a clear shift in Vietnamese cinema's approach to modern storytelling, emotionally rich visual language, and international integration.
The enthusiastic reception and lively discussions following the screening demonstrate that Vietnamese cinema is fully capable of telling its own stories while touching global hearts, affirming a new position for Vietnamese cinema on its journey to reach the world.
With the theme "Vietnamese Cinema - A Journey of Light," the event attracted over 6,000 viewers from France and nearly 20 other countries, showcasing 17 representative works of Vietnamese cinema - from classics to contemporary, from commercial films to art films and documentaries, including many films that have won awards at international festivals. The event also brought together more than 100 renowned actors and directors from France and Vietnam.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ms. Pham Thi Kim Yen, Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in France, thanked the organizing committee, volunteers, the Vietnam Film Promotion Association (VFDA), the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts Global (ASVE Global)... for their work over the past months to successfully organize a meaningful event that contributed to promoting Vietnamese culture and cinema to international friends.
Speaking with reporters, Meritorious Artist and director Dang Thai Huyen of the film "Red Rain" shared: “I think that not only 'Red Rain' but all the films selected for screening at this year's Vietnamese Film Week in Paris have always been well-received by audiences, especially in France. It's a truly wonderful milestone for Vietnamese cinema, and it will also serve as a foundation for future Vietnamese Film Weeks in France, spreading the message of Vietnamese cultural, national, and artistic values to the world.”
With in-depth meetings and a warm reception from the international public, the Vietnam Film Week in Paris is considered a memorable milestone for Vietnamese cinema on the world map.
The event not only celebrates art but also opens up a long-term direction for promoting the image of Vietnam and its people through the widespread influence of cinema.
