The Vietnamese women's team will face the Indonesian women's team in the semi-finals of the SEA Games 33 at 4 PM on December 14th.
Speaking before the match, coach Mai Duc Chung expressed: “This promises to be a good match because Indonesia is a team that is improving quickly. Compared to the team we faced at the AFF Cup in Hai Phong , they have changed a lot.”
"In particular, the naturalized players have brought a new energy to the team. This is good progress, and we will be cautious about it. I respect our opponent and will focus all my efforts on this match," Coach Mai Duc Chung began his press conference before the semi-final match.
Compared to the recent Southeast Asian Championship, the Indonesian women's team has undergone many changes in its squad. The team has added several high-quality naturalized players.
Regarding a more detailed assessment of the opponent, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “We have also studied the opponent and will have a strategy to deal with their tall and strong players. We will press high, utilize our best abilities to play in the best possible condition. Although the opponent has many naturalized players, I believe Vietnam will win.”
Also attending the press conference before the semi-final match was striker Pham Hai Yen. She shared: “My teammates and I are always ready, confident, and united when we step onto the field. We hope to continue receiving the support of the audience.”
Striker Hai Yen had the honor of wearing the captain's armband in her appearances at this SEA Games, replacing Huynh Nhu: "Personally, when the coaching staff trusted me with the captain's armband when I went onto the field, I felt very confident and still played cohesively with my teammates. Many of us are a team that has been together for many years, so we all know how to strengthen that bond and try to work together to win," Hai Yen shared.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's coach Akira Higashiyama said: “We are here to make history. This is the first time the Indonesian women's team has reached the top four at the SEA Games. Regarding the semi-final, I feel confident and relaxed. Vietnam is a very strong opponent; they have won the SEA Games many times and are a strong contender for the championship. We will try our best to play well and win.”
On the afternoon of December 13th, the Vietnamese women's national team held a training session at San Suk Stadium to prepare their tactics for the match at 4:00 PM on December 14th at Chonburi Stadium.
