On the evening of December 13th, Mr. Do Ngoc Hoa, Deputy Director of the Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Health, informed that a cluster of suspected food poisoning cases related to the consumption of bread from the HV establishment had been recorded in the province. This is a complex case because this bread brand has many branches operating in the province.

Initial information indicates that on December 13th, Phuc Hung General Hospital ( Quang Ngai ) received 15 patients for examination and treatment with suspected food poisoning symptoms such as fever, fatigue, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. All patients reported having eaten bread of the HV brand before the onset of symptoms.
Of the 15 cases, 7 patients required emergency hospitalization, including 1 case treated in the Pediatrics department and 6 cases in the Internal Medicine department. The patients reside in various locations such as Nghia Lo ward, Khanh Cuong commune, Nghia Giang commune, Cam Thanh commune, etc.
Notably, by the afternoon and evening of the same day (December 13th), Phuc Hung General Hospital continued to record many more patients admitted with similar symptoms. The total number of patients seeking examination and treatment at this hospital has increased to approximately 25 cases. Among them is a 73-year-old patient whose condition is critical, developing acute kidney failure, and is currently under close monitoring. In addition, there is a case of an entire family of four being admitted to the emergency room after eating bread from the same chain of stores.

According to the doctors' initial diagnosis, the patients suffered from acute gastritis and colitis due to infection, typical manifestations of food poisoning. Currently, the cases are being treated according to the food poisoning protocol, mainly with fluid and electrolyte replacement and antibiotics for patients with elevated white blood cell counts.
Not only at Phuc Hung General Hospital, but also at the Emergency Department of Quang Ngai Provincial General Hospital, several patients showed signs of food poisoning after eating bread from the same chain. All patients had symptoms of abdominal pain, fever, and diarrhea.
Following these developments, the Quang Ngai Department of Health, in coordination with the Food Safety Sub-Department and other relevant agencies, has cordoned off the area, sealed off the premises, and collected samples of the suspected food poisoning for testing to determine the cause. Since it has not been precisely determined which branch the patient ate the bread from, the health sector is focusing on contact tracing and requesting relevant establishments to cooperate in providing information to assist in the investigation.
The patients' health is being closely monitored. The suspected food poisoning incident involving HV bread is being further investigated and handled by the relevant authorities in accordance with the law.
