The President of Vietnam awarded the Medal of Courage to two fishermen from Ly Son.

On the morning of December 10th, the leaders of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee confirmed that President Luong Cuong had signed Decision No. 2360/QD-CTN dated December 9th, 2025, awarding the Medal of Courage to two residents of the Ly Son Special Economic Zone for their bravery in rescuing people during Typhoon No. 13.

Two people honored to receive the Medal of Courage are Mr. Phan Duy Quang (Tay An Vinh village) and Mr. Le Van Sanh (Tay An Hai village), Ly Son special zone.

Previously, on the afternoon of November 6, while storm No. 13 was making landfall in the East Sea, Mr. Duong Quang Cuong (44 years old) in Tay An Vinh village jumped into the sea for family reasons at Ly Son wharf. Afterwards, Mr. Le Van Sanh (37 years old) in Tay An Hai village and Mr. Pham Duy Quang (47 years old) in Tay An Vinh village used a basket boat to rescue the person who jumped off the bridge. After rescuing Mr. Cuong, due to big waves, all 3 could not row the basket boat to shore. Although the forces, local authorities and fishermen of Ly Son island searched for him, due to big waves and strong winds, all 3 people drifted at sea. Fortunately, after 2 days drifting at sea, all 3 people were rescued.

The brave actions of Pham Duy Quang and Le Van Sanh to save people have been greatly admired by the authorities and people at all levels, becoming a shining example of humanity in a big storm, ready to sacrifice themselves to help others in difficulty and misfortune.

On December 9, 2025, President Luong Cuong signed a decision to award the "Medal of Courage" to the two men.
