The first gold medal came from the women's 61kg final, where Hoang Thi My Tam faced Thai fighter Maneevan. Despite falling behind initially, My Tam quickly turned the tables, scoring two consecutive points to take a 2-1 lead, then dominating the match and securing a convincing 11-2 victory.
Next up was the gold medal in the men's 84kg final, where Nguyen Thanh Truong faced Indonesian fighter Arif. He conceded the opening points, but, like My Tam, Thanh Truong displayed resilience, staging a comeback to take a 4-1 lead. Despite a leg injury, the Vietnamese fighter held on strong, maintaining his advantage and ultimately winning 4-1.
Finally, the gold medal came from Dinh Thi Huong, the female martial artist who completed a "hat-trick" of gold for the Vietnamese Karate Team with a victory over Indonesian athlete Yefanza in the final of the women's 68kg weight category. With a flexible, proactive, and decisive fighting style, Dinh Thi Huong won the match 8-5.
To date, the Vietnamese Karate team has won 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals at this year's SEA Games 33. The athletes have one final day of competition on December 14th to improve their record.
In the 57kg weight class final, Anh Tuyet faced immense pressure against Harnsujin from host country Thailand, but she remained calm and displayed strong composure to secure a 2-1 victory (7-2, 13-13 and 8-3).
This is the fourth gold medal that the Taekwondo team has brought home for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation after four days of competition.
