In the semi-finals of the men's football tournament at the 33rd SEA Games, Vietnam U22 will face the Philippines U22, the winner of Group C. This is a significant challenge for Coach Kim Sang Sik's team, as the Philippines U22 boasts many players who play in England, the USA, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Japan, and other countries.

The U22 Philippines team showed formidable strength by winning both matches against U22 Myanmar and U22 Indonesia. However, the country's media remained quite cautious when discussing U22 Vietnam.
The ABS-CBN newspaper published an article titled: "Philippine football teams must not be complacent after reaching the semi-finals." They reminded both the Philippine men's and women's teams to be cautious after their historic achievement of reaching the SEA Games semi-finals. In particular, the U22 Philippines team will face the in-form U22 Vietnam team.
The newspaper quoted the President of the Philippine Football Federation, John Gutierrez, as saying: “We cannot be complacent; we must continue to strive. For both the Philippine men's and women's teams to reach the finals, we need thorough preparation.”

Meanwhile, Philstar emphasized: “This is the first time the Philippines U22 team has reached the semi-finals in 34 years. The team will have to face a very strong opponent in Vietnam U22. This is not the time for complacency. Only by showing great effort can the Philippines U22 team hope to win a ticket to the final.”
In the past, the Vietnam U22 team has won both matches against the Philippines U22 team at the SEA Games. In their most recent encounter in the 2019 tournament, Vietnam U22 secured a 2-1 victory.
