The Ministry of Education and Training is tightening inspections following reports of foreign university degrees not being recognized.

The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just released official information regarding feedback from students and the press about the recognition of diplomas in the joint training program between the London College of Design and Fashion and Liverpool John Moores University (UK).

According to the Ministry of Education and Training , immediately after receiving applications for diploma recognition from several students, the Quality Management Department reviewed the applications based on the documents, confirmations from the university, and regulations in Circular No. 13/2021/TT-BGDĐT. The results showed that the university degrees awarded by Liverpool John Moores University to the aforementioned group of students did not meet the requirements for recognition in Vietnam according to current regulations.

Regarding the information reported in the press, on the morning of December 12, 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training held a meeting with the participation of many specialized units including the Department of Quality Management, the Department of International Cooperation, the Department of Higher Education, the Department of Vocational Education and Continuing Education, and the Ministry's Office. Through initial review, the units determined that the case is complex, involving many organizations such as London Fashion College - Hanoi Co., Ltd., London Academy of Design and Fashion, London Vocational College of Design and Fashion, and Liverpool John Moores University. Some indications suggest that the international training collaboration activities may not have fully complied with legal regulations.

The Ministry of Education and Training stated that it will continue to request relevant organizations and individuals to provide documents and information for verification and clarification; at the same time, it is considering establishing an inspection team to conduct a comprehensive review of the activities of the London College of Design and Fashion.

Affirming its commitment to strict handling, the Ministry of Education and Training emphasized that any violations (if any) will be dealt with according to regulations, while ensuring the legitimate rights of students. The Ministry also thanked the press for their timely reporting and pledged to continue providing information as soon as verification results are available.
