Vingroup wants to build the world's second-largest stadium, three times the size of My Dinh Stadium.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Vingroup has proposed building Lac Viet Stadium, with a capacity of up to 135,000 seats, in the Olympic Sports Urban Area.

The People's Committee of Thuong Tin commune ( Hanoi City) has just issued a notice regarding the public posting and solicitation of opinions from relevant agencies, organizations, individuals, and the community on the detailed planning project at a scale of 1/500 for the Olympic Sports Urban Area - Zone B.

Previously, on December 8th, the People's Committee of Thuong Tin commune announced that it had received a document from Vingroup Corporation - JSC (stock code: VIC) requesting cooperation in gathering opinions from relevant parties regarding this planning project.

The entire Olympic sports urban area covers approximately 10,000 hectares, within the scope of the planning study area which spans over 16,100 hectares.

Specifically, Zone B covers over 3,100 hectares with a population of approximately 186,000 people. This area is planned for the development of low-rise housing, townhouses, villas, and apartments. The plan also includes all necessary community facilities such as land for education , healthcare, green spaces, transportation, and a system of cultural and sports centers.

At its center is Lac Viet Stadium, with a capacity of up to 135,000 seats, envisioned as an iconic structure inspired by the Dong Son bronze drum and the image of the Lac bird.

If completed on this scale, Lac Viet Stadium will be the second largest stadium in the world, second only to Rungrado May Day Stadium (North Korea), with a capacity of 150,000 seats and an area of ​​over 207,000 square meters.

In Vietnam, the largest stadium remains My Dinh Stadium with approximately 40,000 seats. Last October, the Ministry of Public Security commenced construction of the PVF Stadium in Hung Yen, with a capacity of 60,000 seats on an area of ​​5.5 hectares. Vinhomes is the main contractor for the project.

Besides the Lac Viet Stadium, Zone B of the Olympic Sports City also includes other large-scale facilities such as the Global Aquatic Arena, the Vietnam Sports Tower, and the E-Sports Super Arena.
