Summary of the star anise cultivation model and the integrated cultivation model for yellow-fleshed ginger.

On the morning of December 13th, Duong Hong commune held a summary meeting on the model of growing star anise and the model of linked cultivation of yellow-fleshed ginger. Attending the meeting were leaders from the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, and other professional staff.

Leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department conducted a field inspection of the area planted with yellow-fleshed ginger in Tham Quang village.

Currently, the total area of ​​star anise trees in Duong Hong commune is over 354 hectares, concentrated in Na Nom, Na Nhung, Na Thang, Khuoi Ma, Khuoi Luong, and Na Lau villages; the area of ​​trees that have been harvested for 5 years or more is 106 hectares; the area planted for 3 to 5 years, preparing for harvest, is over 242 hectares; the area for new planting in 2025 is 5.5 hectares; the harvest yield reaches 110-120 quintals/hectare; the average extraction yield is 110-120 liters/hectare.

Through rigorous testing, the yellow-fleshed buffalo ginger variety achieved high yield and quality, with a weight of 7.5kg – 8kg/1m2.

For the model of cultivating yellow-fleshed ginger linked to product consumption, the project covers an area of ​​120 hectares, including: 80 hectares of yellow-fleshed ginger and 40 hectares of hybrid ginger, implemented in Na Phieng, Tham Quang, Na Nhung, and Na Thang villages; a total of 76 households are participating in the project; the implementation period is from January 2025 to December 2025. All products are guaranteed to be purchased at an agreed price of 10,000 VND/kg of fresh ginger tubers.

Leaders from the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department and the Provincial Plant Cultivation and Protection Sub-department surveyed the area planted with star anise trees.

Through practical surveys, delegates assessed that star anise and yellow-fleshed ginger are suitable for the local climate and soil. The two models have initially brought economic benefits to the people. Delegates hope that people will continue to take good care of the star anise and yellow-fleshed ginger crops; establish production linkages to form production zones, and enhance the brand of the products.
