During the final two days of the exercise (December 12-13), live-fire activities took place at sea. These activities aimed to enhance international cooperation, strengthen coordinated operational capabilities, and respond to common maritime security challenges.
With high intensity and requiring precise coordination, the exercise included: formation maneuvering for aerial photography; medical evacuation; search and rescue; resupply maneuvering at sea; maintaining ship survivability; night formation maneuvering; and saluting at sea.
In addition, within the framework of the AUMX-2 exercise from December 9-13, the Vietnam People's Navy also participated in activities such as situation handling workshops, expert workshops, and sports and cultural exchange activities.
Responding to a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reporter in Indonesia, Captain Le Tho Tuan of Ship 09 said that participating in the AUMX-2 exercise helped the officers and soldiers of Ship 09 improve their skills in handling situations at sea, especially in complex conditions. In the current context of many natural disasters occurring in the ASEAN region, cooperation, response, and rescue activities at sea are very practical and provide a real-world opportunity for the officers and soldiers of Ship 09 to enhance their capacity for international coordination in responding to complex natural disaster situations.

The Deputy Political Officer of Ship 09, Lieutenant Colonel Chu Van Hung, added that, parallel to the exercise, the unit also trained its officers and soldiers to improve their skills in operating and maintaining weapons and technical equipment, as well as their ability to withstand rough seas and operate at sea for extended periods. Ship 09 and the task force ensured absolute safety for personnel and equipment during the long journey from their homeland, covering over 1,500 nautical miles in sea conditions of level 5 and 6, which is also a notable achievement of this mission.
AUMX-2 is an important forum for navies of participating countries to share knowledge and enhance cooperation, affirming their shared commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea and the Indo-Pacific region.
