
During the meeting, Minister Le Hoai Trung congratulated Ambassador Dhan Bahadur Oli on presenting his credentials to President Luong Cuong, officially beginning his term as Ambassador to Vietnam. Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the traditional friendship, long-standing ties, and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Nepal, emphasizing that 2025 marks an important milestone: the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He expressed pleasure at the positive development of bilateral relations in recent years, especially after the official visit of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan to Nepal in August 2025. The Minister stressed that the two countries share many cultural and religious similarities, particularly Buddhism, as well as a common vision on regional and international issues, which are important foundations and bonds that help strengthen the friendship between the people of the two countries.
Building on 50 years of good friendship, Minister Le Hoai Trung proposed that both sides coordinate more closely, exploiting potential and advantages to deepen and strengthen cooperation in various fields. The Minister requested the Ambassador to enhance connections between ministries, agencies, businesses, and associations of the two countries through delegation exchanges or online forums, contributing to increased mutual understanding; to establish a consultation mechanism between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs; to consider negotiating and signing important agreements to create a stable cooperation framework, including agreements on trade and investment; to establish cooperation between the Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry and the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and to encourage airlines to open direct or connecting flights between the two countries. On this occasion, the Minister also requested the Ambassador and the Government of Nepal to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Nepal to live, study, and conduct business.
Ambassador Dhan Bahadur Oli thanked the Minister for taking the time to meet with him, as well as for the Minister's interest and support for bilateral relations. The Ambassador shared an overview of the situation in Nepal, stating that Nepal is striving to stabilize the situation and aiming to hold elections in early 2026. The Ambassador also shared that the Government and people of Nepal are working hard to achieve economic and social development goals, striving to move out of the group of least developed countries by 2027.
The Ambassador emphasized that Nepalese leaders highly value their relationship with Vietnam and wish to learn from Vietnam's experience and model of economic and social development and international integration. The Ambassador affirmed that specific plans would be developed to promote bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, science and technology, culture, tourism, education and training, and to strengthen people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Nepal.
Minister Le Hoai Trung and the Ambassador affirmed their commitment to continued close cooperation and mutual support within the framework of multilateral forums, especially in their candidacies for important United Nations bodies.
Minister Le Hoai Trung wished the Ambassador a successful term, expressing confidence that with his experience, the Ambassador would fulfill his duties well and contribute to strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Nepal.
