The activities aim to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2025) and the 36th anniversary of the National Defense Day, demonstrating the concern and gratitude of all levels and sectors towards those who have contributed to the revolution.
Those eligible for free health check-ups, consultations, and medication include: war invalids, sick soldiers, veterans, resistance fighters, relatives of martyrs, families with meritorious service to the revolution, poor households, the elderly, lonely elderly people, and people with disabilities in difficult circumstances.
Phan Thế Ba (born in 1957), a first-class war invalid who participated in the Southwest border campaign from 1976 and lost an arm in 1978, shared: “The State and local authorities always care for and look after those of us who are eligible for government assistance. Every year there are many activities to visit and support us, and I am very happy and feel appreciated.”
Mr. Van Cong Hong (born in 1954), a former guerrilla fighter from An Thanh commune, Ben Luc district (formerly Long An province), who participated in the resistance against the US from 1973 and fought in the Cambodian battlefield from 1977-1978, expressed his gratitude for the medical examination, consultation, and medication provided by doctors and nurses to treat his persistent cough. "This care warms our hearts," Mr. Hong said.

The program involved a team of experienced doctors and medical staff from Military Hospital 7A and Cho Ray Hospital. The medical professionals conducted general health checkups, measured blood pressure, checked cardiovascular and respiratory systems, provided nutritional advice, and guided participants on how to prevent common illnesses, especially during the cold weather. After the checkups, each participant received free medication and instructions on its safe and effective use.
Besides providing medical examinations and treatment, the organizing committee also presented many meaningful gifts to policy beneficiary families, poor households, and those with particularly difficult circumstances. The total cost of the program was nearly 200 million VND, with the joint support of officers and soldiers of the Commune Military Command, the Commune Health Station, the Youth Union, the Women's Union, and other related units.
The free health check-up program is an activity with profound humanitarian significance, contributing to the care and protection of people's health, while upholding the tradition of "remembering the source when drinking water," "showing gratitude," strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people, and expressing gratitude to those who have dedicated and sacrificed themselves for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
