On December 29, 2025 (corresponding to the 10th day of the 11th lunar month of the Year of the Snake), the ceremony of enshrining the statue of Buddha Kūṇāhām will officially take place at Ba Den Mountain ( Tay Ninh ), providing another reason for tourists to visit the highest mountain in Southern Vietnam and entrust their wishes for a life of good fortune and prosperity.
The ceremony of enshrining the statue of Buddha Kūṭa-hāmā on the summit of Ba Den Mountain, presided over by the Vietnam Buddhist Association, is a significant spiritual and cultural event eagerly awaited by Buddhists and people of Southern Vietnam. This event marks an important milestone, as Ba Den Mountain will be one of the rare places in Vietnam to have the presence of Buddha Kūṭa-hāmā, one of the Buddhas of the past and a symbol of enlightenment.
The Buddha Kanakamuni, in Sanskrit and in Pali Koṇāgamana, means "The One Who Comes From Gold" or "The One Who Brings Gold."
According to Buddhist scriptures, Buddha Konagamana was born in the city of Purity, the capital of King Purity (today Nigali Sagar, Nepal). The Buddha renounced the world and practiced asceticism for six months. He attained enlightenment under an Udumbara tree.
Udumbara is the Sanskrit name for the fig tree, flower, and fruit, and is also a mythical flower in Buddhism, said to bloom only once every 3,000 years and only appear when the Buddha or a Wheel-Turning King is born.
Accordingly, Udumbara means "flower that brings good fortune from heaven." In folk beliefs, the fig tree also symbolizes abundance, completeness, prosperity, good luck, and wealth.
Located in the Udumbara Garden – a Zen garden at the highest point on the "roof of Southern Vietnam" – the statue of Buddha Kunaham is sculpted in a majestic seated posture beneath a decades-old fig tree. The statue of Buddha Kunaham is 7.2 meters tall, crafted using high-pressure processing technology from red copper, and finished with 24k gold leaf.

With the lotus posture (also known as the lotus seat) on a lotus pedestal placed in the middle of a golden lotus pond, the statue of Buddha Kūṇāgāmi has a compassionate face, with gently open eyes looking down, expressing tranquility, understanding, and compassion for all beings.
From the highest point on the mountaintop, the statue of Buddha Konagamana faces east, as if towards the future. Buddha Konagamana's right hand forms the teaching mudra, symbolizing the period of his preaching in his life; his left hand holds a fig – an image associated with his journey to enlightenment under the Udumbara tree.

Surrounding the statue of Buddha Konagamana is the Udumbara Waterfall. The Udumbara Waterfall is circular, with a diameter of 50m and a height of 12m, constructed from 32 golden pillars symbolizing the 32 auspicious marks of the Buddha.
Inspired by the radiant aura of the Buddha, the Udumbara Waterfall shines with golden light, creating a dazzling highlight against the sky atop the sacred mountain.
The Uu Dam Waterfall cascades down into a golden lotus pond, creating a sacred and mystical space, symbolizing good fortune, prosperity, and wealth spread throughout the world.
Located in the heart of Udumbara Waterfall, the statue of Buddha Konagamana has become a symbol of enlightenment, a place where people find inner peace, and a spiritual anchor where people entrust their hopes for a life of good fortune, prosperity, and wealth.

Together with the statue of the Goddess of the West Bodhisattva – the Buddha representing the present; the statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva – the Buddha representing the future; and the statue of Kunahamuni Buddha – the Buddha representing the past, they form a thread connecting time – past, present, and future – right on the summit of the sacred mountain.
Today, Mount Ba Den has become a destination for Buddhists and tourists to reflect on themselves, cast aside worries of the past or future, and live fully in the present moment with mindfulness, seeking true happiness.
