Enhance student exchange programs.
The Department of Russian Language, University of Foreign Languages (Da Nang University) began cooperating with Russian universities in 2012, when it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Tula State Pedagogical University named after L.N. Tolstoy.
Over the past decade, the network of cooperation has continuously expanded with prestigious educational institutions such as: Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, HSE University - Higher School of Economics , AXPushkin State Institute of Russian Language, etc.
Based on cooperation agreements, on average, 10 Vietnamese students receive 10-month scholarships under the Agreement each year, 5 outstanding students win full 5-year scholarships, and many others continue their postgraduate studies in Russia.
Le Nguyen Bich Quan, a fourth-year student in the Russian Language Department, recently completed a bridging course at the AX Pushkin Institute of Russian Language (Moscow) from October 2024 to June 2025. According to her, the biggest difference lies in the teaching methods and intensity. In Russia, each lesson lasts 90 minutes (compared to 50 minutes in Vietnam), requiring a high level of concentration.
Training programs in Russia emphasize practical application. Teachers frequently organize activities that build conversational skills, encourage debate, and require continuous student interaction.
"The environment that requires communication in Russian, from the classroom to everyday situations like shopping at the supermarket or using public transportation, has significantly improved my listening and speaking skills , " Bich Quan said.
Beyond their studies, students also participate in cultural diplomacy activities. For example, on May 4, 2025, a group of international students had the opportunity to cheer on the Vietnam People's Army during their training for the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War at Red Square. These activities contribute to strengthening solidarity and promoting the image of Vietnam to international friends.
Ms. Trinh Thi Tinh, Deputy Director of the Russian Language Department's training program, commented: "Vietnamese students who return to study at the department all have improved language skills; more independent thinking abilities and a more positive attitude and learning attitude."
Thanks to the openness of our international friends, you have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Russian culture, lifestyle, and way of thinking, thereby broadening your horizons and adaptability in a multicultural environment.”

Conversely, the University of Foreign Languages (Da Nang University) is currently the "second home" for 11 Russian students who are studying a short-term Vietnamese language course under the Agreement, starting in October 2025.
Tikhonova Anastasiia, a student in the Russian Agreement class, faced a rather interesting "challenge" while studying in Da Nang: the Central Vietnamese dialect.
“In Russia, I studied and learned Northern Vietnamese, so understanding people from Da Nang was a real challenge,” Anastasiia shared. However, the friendly environment and support from the locals helped the students quickly integrate.
Tikhonova Anastasiia is a leading figure in training and developing soft skills for international students. On December 5th, she represented Vietnam at the Talkshow “Global Minds - Sustainable Futures,” directly sharing her views on the role of students in global cooperation and sustainable development with international guests.
Earlier, on the evening of December 2nd, Anastasiia served as a bilingual MC alongside a VTV8 reporter in the program "Artistic Exchange to Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation" at the Trung Vuong Theater.
The presence and active contributions of students from the University of Foreign Languages at the event helped affirm the university's position as a friendly, dynamic academic environment and a reliable destination for the international student community.
Focus on the teaching staff.
A highlight of the Russian Language Department's comprehensive cooperation strategy is its focus on developing its faculty.
Last November, the department welcomed Associate Professor Vlada Vaelevna Myachina from Herzen University to teach and exchange academic ideas. The presence of native-speaking experts brought a fresh perspective to teaching methods, helping students approach the Russian language in the most accurate and natural way.

On December 4th, the University of Foreign Languages welcomed and held a working meeting with a delegation of experts from the Pushkin Institute (Russian Federation) and the Pushkin Institute branch in Vietnam. The meeting opened up new prospects for cooperation in Russian language training, research, and testing; and also created more opportunities for professional development for the university's faculty and students.
In October 2025, lecturer Truong Thi Be (Department of Russian Language) excelled and became one of the five Vietnamese representatives to reach the finals of the International Professional Skills Competition for Russian Language Speakers in Moscow. Ms. Be surpassed over 600 competitors from 30 countries to be among the top 30 teachers in the world in the final round.

Sharing more about the development direction of the faculty, Ms. Trinh Thi Tinh emphasized: "Participating in international cooperation programs in the Russian Federation helps lecturers access modern teaching methods and update their knowledge."
Furthermore, the multicultural academic environment and teamwork with Russian-speaking researchers from around the world help faculty members build strong academic networks, expand opportunities for research publication, and participate in future international collaborative projects.”
In the context of increasingly globalized higher education, developing collaborative relationships like these will create a sustainable foundation for the quality of training, research, and faculty development.
