Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang said that according to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, on November 18, Cambodia arrested six Vietnamese people who had fled in Svay Rieng province, Cambodia.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued instructions and the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia is verifying the information with Cambodian authorities and will take necessary citizen protection measures.
Also at the press conference, the press asked the spokesperson to inform about the recent incident in which a Korean citizen was found dead in a large bag in Ho Chi Minh City. The Vietnamese police arrested two Korean suspects for investigation.
The spokesman said: "According to the information we received, Vietnamese authorities have notified the Korean diplomatic representative agency in Vietnam about this incident. Currently, Vietnamese authorities are also investigating to clarify the incident."
Regarding the apartment fire in Hong Kong (China) that killed many people, the spokesman of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed: "We would like to send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims."
Immediately after receiving the information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed the Vietnamese Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macau (China) to immediately contact local authorities to find out information about affected Vietnamese people, contact Vietnamese community leaders in Hong Kong to get information, and prepare citizen protection plans if necessary.
The spokesman said that according to information received from the Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau (China), there have been no recorded cases of Vietnamese citizens being affected.
