After more than a decade of delays, violations and thousands of billions of VND wasted, the two projects of the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital in Phu Ly area (formerly Ha Nam , now Ninh Binh province) have gradually revived. With the strong direction of the Government and the participation of many ministries and branches, progress is being pushed to the maximum. It is expected that the basic construction will be completed before November 30, aiming to be operational by the end of 2025.
According to VTC News Electronic Newspaper reporters, the appearance of Bach Mai Hospital, branch 2, has changed significantly.
The rows of houses that were once covered with dust and moss are now painted in bright colors, the glass door system has been replaced synchronously, and the internal roads, parking lots, and landscape are gradually being completed.
Construction is taking place urgently, from technical systems, functional rooms to treatment areas are all checked and supplemented.
This revival is not only a change in facilities but also brings great expectations to people for a high-quality medical facility close to where they live.
“For so many years, we only saw the construction site deserted, we thought the hospital would stay there forever. Now, seeing the machines and workers working continuously, I am really happy because in the future I will not have to take my family to Hanoi, which is too far away, for medical examination and treatment,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet (56 years old, from Ninh Binh).
“We look forward to the day Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital 2 open. The operation of two large hospitals will benefit the whole region, both in terms of health and economy,” said a trader at Phu Ly central market.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, the second facility in Ninh Binh is entering the final stages of completion, expected to welcome patients from December 19. The operation of the new facility is considered an important milestone, contributing to expanding service capacity and bringing high-quality medical services closer to people in the southern provinces of Hanoi.
With Viet Duc Hospital 2, the installation of medical equipment is almost complete.
Inside Viet Duc Hospital, branch 2, green trees, roads, sidewalks and auxiliary works are being urgently completed and prepared for operation.
The hospital said it will operate step by step: initially operating at about 30% capacity to ensure safety and efficiency, then gradually expanding according to actual needs.
When put into operation, the second facility of the two hospitals will not only contribute to reducing the load on Bach Mai and Viet Duc Hospitals, but also support patients from the Central provinces such as Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa or neighboring provinces such as Hai Phong, Ninh Binh to conveniently visit, reduce travel costs and share the pressure of medical examination and treatment for the entire Hanoi area and neighboring provinces.
The second facility project of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital were started in 2014, each hospital has a scale of 1,000 beds, with a total investment of nearly 5,000 billion VND. These are two key projects in the project to build 5 end-line hospitals of the Ministry of Health.
In October 2018, the examination areas of both buildings were inaugurated, but only the Bach Mai facility operated for a short time and then stopped in March 2020, while Viet Duc facility 2 never received any patients. For many years, the two “super hospitals” were just giant blocks of abandoned buildings, gradually deteriorating over time.
Most recently, on November 18, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and a Government delegation inspected the construction investment project of Bach Mai Hospital 2 and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital 2 in Ninh Binh province. Regarding the progress of implementation, the Ministry of Health said that the basic construction work of the 2 hospitals will be completed before November 30.
