Social networks are buzzing with an anonymous post by a college student in Hanoi who participated in the A80 program (celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day) on September 2.

The post said that students from other schools received 1.6 million VND in training support, but students at our school only received 940,000 VND in cash, and the receipt did not specify the amount. When questioned, the school explained that "the difference was due to food and car rental expenses", but there was no list, price list or invoice.

The author of the article raised many questions: "Is it correct to sign a receipt but not write down the amount?" and "Why is the same program but the support level between schools is almost double different?".

The incident is said to have occurred at Hanoi College of Tourism .

NMQ - a student at Hanoi College of Tourism - told VTC News that each car participating in A80 consists of 25-26 students practicing, a teacher in charge and a group leader (a volunteer student). The group leader does not practice but only manages and takes attendance, but still receives a certificate of merit and salary like the students, and continues to receive additional payments when students receive A80 money. Thus, the group leader receives one certificate of merit and two times the money.

NMQ added that although the school required a tax code and bank account number to process the payment, cash was given out when the payment was made, while students from other universities received transfers with clear information that it was A80 money.

On the afternoon of November 30, responding to VTC News, Mr. Pham Van Long - Principal of Hanoi College of Tourism said that the students' reflection on paying for the A80 event was a "misunderstanding" because the teachers did not provide full information.

According to Mr. Long, the 940,000 VND that students have received is only the first payment. The remaining amount (more than 500,000 VND) will be given by the school along with a certificate of participation in the event at the ceremony to honor students with good achievements, scheduled to take place from December 15-25.

Mr. Pham Van Long added that currently on his desk there are nearly 1,000 certificates expected to be awarded to students participating in A80. Initially, the school wanted to honor each student, but because of incomplete information, it led to unnecessary misunderstandings.

"Hanoi College of Tourism will hold a dialogue with students related to the A80 event at 2 p.m. next Monday. Students should attend in full to listen, discuss and resolve problems together," said the Principal.
