Here, doctors performed eye examinations, measured vision and provided direct consultation to students. In addition, hospital representatives also awarded scholarships to 5 students with difficult circumstances.
Specialist Doctor II Tran Trong Duy, Professional Director, Saigon - Bien Hoa Eye Hospital said: The World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that the rate of myopia in Asian children, including Vietnam, will increase, about 80-90% by 2050. When having refractive errors without being examined and wearing appropriate glasses, it will affect studying and daily activities. If not detected early, it will cause complications such as amblyopia, strabismus, retinal degeneration, retinal detachment, etc.

Therefore, this program aims to help students better understand the prevention and reduction of myopia. This is a practical and meaningful activity, helping students get their eyesight checked, receive in-depth advice on refractive errors as well as how to protect healthy eyes in study and life.
In November and December 2025, Saigon - Bien Hoa Eye Hospital coordinated with many schools and hospitals to implement a free refractive error screening program for students and children in the province.
