Many businesses suffered losses.
At Dien Phu Industrial Park, most businesses are busy overcoming the consequences of the flood. Everywhere you go, you see scenes of cleaning up factories, repairing machines, selecting usable materials... to prepare for re-production. The recent flood caused all 31 businesses operating in the industrial park to be submerged from 1 to 1.5 meters deep and had to stop operations since November 20. Office equipment, machinery, production equipment, and raw materials were all damaged.
According to preliminary reports, the estimated damage in Dien Phu Industrial Park is about 315 billion VND, more than 1,880 workers have had to temporarily stop working. So far, only 5/31 enterprises have resumed operations. According to calculations, other enterprises can resume operations by early December or mid-December at the earliest. Enterprises with heavy damage may have to repair their machinery even longer.

In addition, the internal traffic infrastructure of the industrial park is seriously damaged; the centralized wastewater treatment plant with a designed capacity of 1,500m3 /day and night and the automatic wastewater monitoring system are currently unable to operate.
Mr. Truong Van Tien - Director of the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion said: "The unit has contacted the technical unit to inspect the entire damaged centralized wastewater treatment plant system. Currently, the center has deployed an incident response plan according to regulations. All wastewater will be temporarily stored in the wastewater treatment plant's tanks. The center will report and fix the problem after receiving funding from the competent authority."
Support solutions are needed soon.
This is the peak period for production of goods for the Lunar New Year, along with completing orders signed with partners. Therefore, businesses hope that the management agency and the province will soon have appropriate support solutions to help businesses restore production as soon as possible.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh - Deputy Director of Saigon - Khanh Hoa Beer Joint Stock Company said: "The entire production equipment system of the company is flooded. We are trying to fix it to restore production in early December, but if the equipment is seriously damaged, we will have to wait for replacement parts from abroad, which will take more time. The estimated damage is about 38 billion VND. During the 2 weeks of production suspension, the factory lost 80 billion VND in revenue. With such damage, the company hopes that the province will support businesses to return to production and speed up exports; in addition, there will be policies to support tax deferral or reduction."
In addition, businesses also hope that the province will soon have practical support policies for the families of workers working in the flooded industrial parks, because most of the workers here are local people and live in heavily damaged areas. In particular, it is necessary to immediately fix the damaged traffic infrastructure in the industrial parks, helping businesses easily circulate goods.
Mr. Tran Quoc Sanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said: "All recommendations from enterprises will be compiled by the Department and reported to the Provincial People's Committee for support and to resolve difficulties. The Provincial People's Committee has specific policies for people in flooded areas, which also helps workers in industrial parks to stabilize their lives and return to work soon. Regarding the issue of tax deferral or reduction for companies damaged by natural disasters, the Department of Industry and Trade will work with tax authorities to have appropriate policies. The Department of Industry and Trade continues to accompany, is ready to support, and create all favorable conditions for enterprises in production and business."
