First of all, I would like to express my sincere thanks and feel honored to have the opportunity to write an editorial about my thoughts with the title: "Great victories, great achievements of Vietnam during the 80 years of building and developing the country under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam " to welcome the State visit to Laos, attending the 50th Anniversary of Laos' National Day and co-chairing the High-level Meeting between the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam by Comrade To Lam , General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, his wife and the high-level delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam from December 1 to 2, 2025.
Looking back at the past history, we clearly see that the birth of the Indochinese Communist Party founded by the great President Ho Chi Minh in 1930 and becoming the Communist Party of Vietnam today, was an important historical turning point that decided the fate of the people of the three Indochinese countries in general, and the Vietnamese people in particular. The Communist Party of Vietnam led the Vietnamese people to achieve glorious and miraculous victories in the struggle to save the country against French colonialism until completing the revolutionary cause of liberating the country and establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945. Then, it continued to liberate the South, unify the country in 1975 and change the country's name to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
After the country was liberated and completely reunified, the Communist Party of Vietnam continued to be the strong core and led the Vietnamese people to carry out the renovation process in 1986, opening a new era, the era of building and developing the country, opening the country, transforming from a centrally planned economy to a socialist-oriented market economy, contributing to the continuous growth of Vietnam's economy.
Looking back in time since the country's founding over the past 80 years, especially during the 40-year period of renovation, it is clear that Vietnam has achieved great, comprehensive, and historically significant achievements, maintaining political stability, strong national security and defense, ensuring social order and safety, rapid, sustainable, and continuous economic growth, people's lives have been constantly improved, foreign relations and international integration have continued to expand, and the role and position of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam have become increasingly prominent in regional and international forums.
Since implementing the renovation process, from a weak country, heavily affected by war and siege, Vietnam has gradually become a middle-income developing country. By 2024, it will become one of the 32 largest economies in the world and one of the 20 leading countries in attracting trade and foreign investment; culture and society will develop with strong identity, becoming an important force for national development. The highlight is that the Party and Government of Vietnam have paid attention to and strengthened comprehensive reforms, and policies in solving negative issues in State administration have achieved many great achievements, supported by the people and praised by the international community. With the determination to streamline the political apparatus in a streamlined and effective direction, it has become an important driving force in the management and administration of the country, which is increasingly improving in quality. Vietnam has made a breakthrough in modernization and digital transformation to create strength and lay the foundation for steady progress towards socialism.
The above achievements affirm the wise, correct and steadfast leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which is of the most important and profound significance for the cause of protecting and developing Vietnam, and at the same time is a valuable lesson and a great source of encouragement for the Lao Party, State and people in carrying out the cause of innovation, protecting and developing Laos in the new period.
I firmly believe that under the talented and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam with General Secretary To Lam at the head, Vietnam will successfully implement the Resolution of the end of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, moving towards organizing the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, this is an important period to enter a new era, an era of development, prosperity and strength of the country and people of Vietnam, by 2030 building Vietnam into a developing country, a modern industrial country, with an upper middle income; by 2045 building Vietnam into a developed country, with a high income, a strong and modern economy and steadily advancing towards socialism, completing the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.
In addition to the great, comprehensive achievements of historical significance that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have achieved over the past 80 years, I am extremely proud to see that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, built by the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, and having gone through the test of revolutionary fire over the past decades, has become a pure and loyal relationship, a priceless common heritage, a law of existence and development of the two countries, and one of the decisive factors for the victory of each country's revolution, as the immortal poem of the great President Ho Chi Minh once described about the Laos - Vietnam relationship: "Loving each other, we can climb any mountain, wade any river, cross any pass, Vietnam - Laos, our two countries, our love is deeper than the Red River - Mekong River" .
Today, the Laos-Vietnam relationship continues to be constantly cared for, nurtured, strengthened and developed in depth in all fields, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, demonstrated through the increasingly close and trustworthy political relationship, the two sides effectively coordinated the implementation of the Joint Statements and Agreements between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and the two States; improved the effectiveness of the Laos-Vietnam cooperation mechanisms; maintained visits and meetings between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and the two States in various forms, exchanging profound and comprehensive content. Cooperation in defense, security and foreign affairs is increasingly close and effective, maintaining political stability, ensuring the security of each country. In terms of economy, trade and investment, it continues to be cared for and promoted, with positive changes and increasingly improved quality of cooperation. Cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science and technology and other fields continues to be valued, promoted and achieves many positive results.
On this important occasion, on behalf of the Central Party, Government and people of Laos, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their valuable, great, effective and timely support for the Lao revolutionary cause over the past time. The Lao Party, State and people will continue to work with the Party, State and people of Vietnam to do their utmost to preserve and promote this rare relationship to be lasting and fruitful, for the common interests of the two countries as well as to contribute to the cause of building peace, stability and cooperation for development in the region and the world.
May the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Laos and Vietnam last forever./.
