The Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duc Hoa commune coordinated with sponsors to organize gift giving to poor and near-poor households in the commune.

From consensus to changing lives

In recent times, Duc Hoa commune has implemented many effective solutions to reduce poverty quickly and sustainably. Thanks to the attention and direction of the Party Committee, the government and the support of the community, people's lives have improved a lot. From a place that used to be a difficult locality, Duc Hoa has now risen up with a significantly reduced poverty rate, currently there are only 11 poor households and 111 near-poor households.

According to the Chairman of Duc Hoa Commune People's Committee, Le Thi Ngoc Hoa, this result was achieved thanks to the commune's synchronous implementation of many solutions, focusing on direct support programs for poor and near-poor households such as: lending capital for production, vocational training, job introduction, livelihood support, and social security care.

In Tan Tap commune, the local government has proactively mobilized diverse resources from national target programs, social activities, and the cooperation of businesses and philanthropists. These efforts have contributed to spreading the spirit of “leaving no one behind”, creating motivation for people to strive to stabilize their lives. Currently, the whole commune still has 174 poor households and 267 near-poor households.

The organization is the fulcrum to help people escape poverty.

One of the forces that has made outstanding contributions to poverty reduction in the locality is the Women's Union of Duc Hoa commune. President of the Women's Union of Duc Hoa commune, Ho Ngoc No, said that the Union regularly reviews and grasps the circumstances of poor households headed by women to have appropriate forms of support. Currently, the whole commune still has 3 poor households headed by women, all of which are monitored and promptly supported by the Union through programs such as: Capital support, gift giving, job referrals, training in science and technology transfer, vocational training, etc. Thanks to that, 12 women have escaped poverty sustainably and stabilized their lives.

In particular, in the period of 2021-2025, the movement of women helping each other to develop the economy was strongly implemented, helping 96/218 poor households headed by women to escape poverty or near-poverty, reaching 44.04% (an average of 11% per year). The Association also supported the establishment of the ONBE Green Production Cooperative managed by women, consisting of 15 members specializing in producing handicrafts from sedge, rattan, bamboo, and leaves - winning the regional Encouragement Prize in the contest "Vietnamese women confidently do business".

Not only stopping at supporting livelihoods, the Association also launched many creative and practical models such as: Exchanging plastic waste for necessities and seedlings; Free breakfast; Godmother or Piggy Bank with 7 groups and 117 participating members. Through these activities, the Association gave nearly 4,000 gifts, built 6 charity houses, and mobilized more than 3 billion VND to help members in difficult circumstances and with illnesses. The emulation movements have created a clear change in awareness, arousing the spirit of self-reliance among rural women.

These are strong women who overcame difficulties, both developing their family economy and actively contributing to the community.

In the period of 2021-2025, the Women's Union of Tan Tap commune has implemented many practical social security models and activities, helping 414 poor and near-poor households escape poverty. Charity models such as the Kitchen of Love, Charity Kitchen, building and donating 14 charity houses, etc. have been effectively maintained with a total cost of more than 4.6 billion VND; mobilizing the purchase of over 3,000 health insurance cards and caring for 100% of disabled women in the area.

In particular, the Piggy Bank Savings - Godmother model is regularly deployed, supporting 64 children in difficult circumstances with a total budget of 290 million VND. At the same time, the Association promotes economic development activities, effectively implements Project No. 939 on supporting women to start a business, establishes 13 production linkage groups with 118 members. The Association also connects and helps women access capital through 27 credit groups with 1,244 members, total outstanding debt of nearly 69 billion VND; maintains 25 revolving capital contribution groups, thereby contributing to improving the lives of members and people.

The trust activities with the Social Policy Bank continued to be effectively implemented with 24 groups and 1,231 members, with a total outstanding loan of more than 68 billion VND. Responding to the Peak Month for the Poor (from October 18 to November 18, 2025), the Commune Women's Union, along with benefactors and hamlet branches, visited and presented gifts to 59 Women's Union members, poor households, households in difficult circumstances, and sick households with a total value of 18.9 million VND; handed over a house after repair, worth 50 million VND, and maintained the Charity Kitchen model, supporting 2,500 meals, vegetarian bread and soft drinks for hospitals, worth 31.3 million VND.

Sharing about the results achieved, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Tan Tap Commune Vo Thi Nhu Thao said: "The models and activities of the Union are all aimed at taking care of the lives of women and children, helping women have the opportunity to develop the economy and build happy families. In the coming time, the Union will continue to replicate effective models, strengthen connections with social resources to support members, especially disadvantaged women, contributing to the effective implementation of poverty reduction work in the locality."

Thanks to the support of the government, organizations and the community, many households in Duc Hoa and Tan Tap communes have been able to improve their lives, increase their income, and move towards sustainable development./.
