After enduring the devastation of two consecutive historic storms and floods, walking along the Tet chrysanthemum growing village in Kien Long hamlet (Binh Thanh commune, Gia Lai), it is not difficult to see the worried eyes of farmers next to the flower beds that are being specially cared for day and night.

As the sun set behind the mountains, thousands of electric lights were reconnected, lighting up the green, straight chrysanthemum gardens, completely different from the devastated scene after the storm and flood of the previous days.

The severe consequences of two consecutive storms and floods caused many areas of Tet chrysanthemum plants to be deeply submerged, broken and the growth process to be significantly slowed down.

Chrysanthemum growers in Kien Long are afraid that their assets and efforts over many months of care will be washed away by storms, so they are focusing all their manpower and measures to save the plants, just hoping for a complete Tet.

Mr. Thai Van Tin (40 years old, a long-time chrysanthemum grower in Kien Long village) said that this year's storms and floods have severely affected his people, trees and crops have died and been uprooted. Kien Long chrysanthemum village was fortunately less affected than other places.

"My family has to hire someone to replant the damaged chrysanthemums and take care of them day and night to make it ready for Tet. However, the quality of the flowers this year will not be as beautiful and consistent as in previous years," said Thai Van Tin.

Concerns about the quality of Tet chrysanthemums are closely linked to the economic burden of the people because this is the main source of income, deciding a prosperous year. Therefore, many households spend their own money to hire workers to clean up the storm and flood debris, improve the land, and some households replant the entire garden to save the Tet chrysanthemum crop at the end of the year.

Mr. Ho Van Tinh (60 years old, the person who grows the most chrysanthemums in Kien Long) shared: "This year, my family planted about 2,500 pots of chrysanthemums of all kinds, large and small. Due to natural disasters and harsh weather, we are taking great care of the plants day and night with the strong hope that the flowers will be ready in time to serve the 2026 Lunar New Year market."

According to Tet chrysanthemum growers in Kien Long village, the most important technique in chrysanthemum growing is the lighting technique. This is a mandatory measure to adjust the blooming time, ensuring that the chrysanthemums will bloom in time for Tet.

According to the people, what they are most worried about now is power outages for some reason other than natural disasters or storms and floods. The lack of light affects the growth of chrysanthemums, causing them to bloom unevenly or at the wrong time.

From above, the whole field of chrysanthemums looks like a small galaxy in the middle of the peaceful countryside, shimmering and warm. The scene is in contrast to the storms and floods of the previous days, with the hope of a prosperous year.
