VTV News Editor is famous not only for her talent but also for her elegant beauty. Few people know that she studied for a master's degree in the US and was once a university lecturer.

When mentioning Editor Thu Uyen, many viewers immediately remember the image of one of the "first beauties of VTV" - a presenter with a kind face, expressive eyes and a calm demeanor rarely seen on television in the 1990s. Not only impressing with her rustic but attractive beauty, Thu Uyen is also a courageous and passionate journalist, leaving a deep impression through a series of humanistic programs, especially As if there had never been a separation .

Editor Thu Uyen was born in 1963 into an intellectual family in Hanoi. Both her parents were lecturers and scientists who made many contributions to Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

She studied diplomacy at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (Russia). In 1987, she returned to Vietnam and worked as a lecturer of French and Russian at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Two years later, she started working in the television industry.

In 1989, Thu Uyen was accepted to work as a film translator at the Feature Film Center of Vietnam Television - a place that specializes in importing and Vietnamizing foreign films for broadcasting.

In 1990, she moved to the International News Department, working as a news editor, producing special programs such as International Stories , reporting on major events and participating in working groups serving the activities of senior leaders.

She once confided that she was very lucky to join the station at the right time when the News program shifted to a more lively and audience-friendly reporting style. The image of Thu Uyen's big round eyes, shoulder-length hair and calm demeanor has become a beautiful impression in the hearts of viewers.

Thu Uyen also went to the US to do her master's thesis in journalism and mass communication. Here, she was highly appreciated and received a degree with honors. When she returned home, she received many invitations from editorial offices but still chose to continue working with VTV.

For more than three decades in the profession, Thu Uyen has always received the trust of the audience. Her warm, deep voice has moved many people through humane programs, especially As if there had never been a separation .

As if there had never been a separation is a charity program that supports the search and reunion of lost relatives. The first episode aired on December 1, 2007 on VTV. In 2019, the program was broadcast on VTV9 and was temporarily suspended in June 2020.

In 2025, the program will officially return to VTV1 at 8:10 p.m., regularly on the first Saturday night of each month. To date, more than 3,000 families have been reunited, spreading the humane message of love and compassion.

Despite her successful career, Editor Thu Uyen is very private about her personal life. The audience often only knows her through the image of a simple, calm presenter. She revealed that she loves simplicity so much that she only wears the same pair of shoes for nearly ten years.

In addition to her busy work, Thu Uyen still spends time with her family, cooking, taking care of her small garden and occasionally traveling with her relatives. The simplicity and peace in the life of the female Editor makes many people love and respect her.

In the VTV Memory program, journalist Thu Uyen recounted the difficult early days of making the television bridge at Hoan Kiem Lake. At that time, live television technology was still new, ensuring the sound and image quality between the two bridges created a lot of pressure. Despite the unfavorable weather, the crew still practiced diligently to ensure the program was broadcast smoothly.

Recalling her image during the live broadcast that year, MC Thu Uyen shared: “When I was on screen, I didn’t think about whether I was beautiful or not, I just focused on hosting. The young people at the station at that time were very good, especially the group doing the French news.” That was also one of her memorable memories when she was working at VTV.
