Cooperation in many fields

In recent years, the relationship between Hai Phong and Czech enterprises and partners has been strengthened through many cooperative activities in many fields. This is demonstrated by the fact that the city has repeatedly welcomed high-ranking delegations from the Czech Republic.

In 2018, a Czech parliamentary delegation led by Vice President Vojtech Filip visited and worked in Hai Phong. Then, in May 2023, Vice President Jan Bartosek and a Czech parliamentary delegation visited the city, further strengthening the official dialogue channel between the two sides, opening up opportunities for local-level cooperation programs.

In the field of culture and people-to-people exchange, in 2022, the Czech Embassy in Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnam - Czech Friendship Labor Cultural Palace organized an exhibition of children's paintings by Czech artists in Hai Phong. This is a unique activity, contributing to enhancing understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries.

Scientific cooperation in nature conservation has also left an important mark. Recently, Cat Ba National Park and Palacký Olomouc University (Czech Republic) have implemented cooperation programs in biodiversity research and evaluation of the quality of ecotourism services.

In September 2024, a delegation from the Czech Republic visited and worked in Cat Ba. Then, from May 26 to June 6, 2025, a research team from Palacký Olomouc University conducted research in Cat Ba to provide scientific data for conservation, resource management and sustainable tourism development.

In particular, consular work is also maintained smoothly. In January 2023, Mr. Pham Truong was reappointed by the Czech Government as Honorary Consul in Hai Phong for the 2023-2028 term, continuing to take on the role of a bridge to support businesses and communities between the two sides.

Import-export activities between Hai Phong and the Czech Republic market maintain positive growth. In 2024, export turnover through Hai Phong port to the Czech Republic will reach more than 9.6 million USD; imports will reach 3.69 million USD. In the first 9 months of 2025 alone, exports will reach more than 16 million USD; imports will reach nearly 4 million USD.

This result shows that cooperation between Hai Phong and the Czech Republic has been maintained stably and expanded in depth, which is an important foundation for the two sides to move towards more valuable and sustainable areas of cooperation.

Enhance connectivity

Despite achieving many positive results, cooperation activities between Hai Phong and businesses and partners of the Czech Republic are still not commensurate with the potential and advantages of both sides.

Trade turnover is still modest compared to the economic scale of the Czech Republic - one of Vietnam's leading partners in Central Eastern Europe with strengths in industry, science and technology, automobile industry, crystal production...

Meanwhile, Hai Phong owns an international seaport system, strongly developed industrial parks and economic zones and an attractive investment environment.

The working delegation led by Comrade Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the City National Assembly Delegation to attend the Hai Phong City Trade and Investment Cooperation Conference 2025 in the Czech Republic is an activity demonstrating the proactive foreign policy thinking of seeking opportunities, promoting economic cooperation, trade and investment promotion between Hai Phong and European partners of the city's leaders in the current context of deep integration.

Previously, the delegation visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic; met with representatives of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic and the Vietnamese Business Association in the Czech Republic.

At the Hai Phong City Trade and Investment Cooperation Conference 2025 in the Czech Republic, Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau introduced the development orientation of Hai Phong in the new period, with the vision of becoming an international industrial, logistics and service center of the North.

He also emphasized the advantages of deep-water seaports, modern transport infrastructure, abundant clean land in industrial parks and a system of competitive incentive policies, creating conditions for the city to strongly attract investment capital associated with technological innovation, environmental protection and high added value.

With the solid foundations built over the years, the Secretary of the City Party Committee expressed his belief that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic will continue to succeed and become an important bridge between Hai Phong in particular, Vietnam in general, and the Czech Republic and the European region.

Also at the conference, comrade Le Trung Kien, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee informed about the city's priority in expanding cooperation with Czech enterprises in the fields of processing and manufacturing industry, high technology, clean energy, logistics, precision mechanics and pharmaceuticals. At the same time, he affirmed that Hai Phong is committed to accompanying international investors through administrative procedure reform, promoting digital transformation and ensuring synchronous and modern industrial infrastructure...

Many Czech enterprises, including Vietnamese enterprises operating in the host country, expressed interest in the Hai Phong market; at the same time, they proposed to study the Hai Phong Trade Center model in the Czech Republic to promote local products, support enterprises to access the European market and promote bilateral trade promotion activities.

In the context of deep integration and increasingly fierce competition to attract investment, the city's leaders have introduced potential, dialogued with the business community and built trust with foreign partners, not only helping to expand the market but also creating a foundation for long-term, substantive cooperation. Thereby strengthening internal strength, diversifying development resources and affirming the city's increasingly clear position in international cooperation.

The Hai Phong City Trade and Investment Cooperation Conference 2025 and the working trip of the city's leaders to the Czech Republic continued to affirm the approach of "diplomacy goes first, paving the way", enhancing international connectivity as a basis for economic development.
