Phuong Trinh and Phuong Uyen were both born on April 3, 2006. Phuong Trinh cried out first, so she was the older sister, while Phuong Uyen came a few minutes later, so she was the younger sister. To equip the two ladies with self-defense skills, their parents sent Phuong Trinh and Phuong Uyen to learn Taekwondo. At that time, the two sisters were only 11 years old.
Small in stature, but agile, resilient and fearless. Watching the two girls practice martial arts, Boxing coach - Mr. Le Anh Dung was fascinated, and encouraged the two girls to switch to boxing. A harsh combat sport , requiring athletes to be strong both mentally and physically.
Phuong Trinh shared: My father works in wedding events, and my mother is a tailor. There is no martial arts tradition in the family, but both my father and mother love martial arts. My parents encouraged me to learn martial arts to improve my health, to be able to protect myself and to be able to "do good deeds" to help people and life.
Phuong Uyen continued: After just a few days of getting acquainted with Taekwondo, Master Dung "coaxed" us to switch to Boxing. Also a martial art, both sisters nodded and followed the master to start on July 15, 2017.
Starting with exercises from simple to advanced. The deeper you go into the subject, the more rigorous it becomes, punching and punching all day long, never sweating dry. Witnessing their two daughters practicing so hard, their parents feel sorry for them, but seeing their determination to pursue their passion, they always encourage Phuong Trinh and Phuong Uyen to make an effort, helping each other to progress.
Studying culture and practicing Boxing, the two sisters are busy all day but always take care of each other. On the training floor, under the guidance of the teacher, the sisters practice diligently.
Back in the room, the sisters were sore and aching, but they still smiled to hide the hardships. The daily conversation of the two sisters was how to punch to achieve the highest efficiency. Many times, they would wake each other up in the middle of the night to practice some technical moves of attack and defense, and then the ways of striking in Boxing such as straight punches, hook punches, moving, dodging, and counter-attacking.
At the same time, the training exercises are increased in difficulty. The most severe is when preparing to enter the season, new athletes like Phuong Trinh and Phuong Uyen have to practice more.
During the tough training times, Mr. Dung, the coach of the sport and his parents were always there to encourage them. Thanks to that, Phuong Trinh and Phuong Uyen felt like they were given more energy, comfortable spirit, and continued to step into the training floor with the desire for medals.
Then the expected day came. Both sisters were sent to participate in the 2020 National Youth Boxing Championship. Surprisingly, both Phuong Trinh and Phuong Uyen won Gold Medals, contributing to the victory of the Thai Nguyen team, which ranked first among 36 participating delegations. Teacher Dung was excited: The two female twin boxers, who had just competed for the first time, won Gold, I am proud of them.
Up to this point, the 19-year-old female boxers from Thai Nguyen have been sent to participate in 9 competitions. Both have won many medals of all kinds at the youth boxing championships; national championships; national strong team championships. The two sisters have won a total of 8 medals of all kinds. Ms. Phuong Trinh won 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 2 bronze medals; Ms. Phuong Uyen won 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 2 bronze medals.
Although they have won many medals in the ring, they are still close, humble with charming smiles. Whenever they have time off to visit home, my sister and I eagerly help our parents, cook some delicious dishes, sit around the dinner table and talk to our parents about our youthful ambitions.
