Ensuring food safety from the source.

The 2026 Food Safety Action Month, themed "Ensuring Food Safety and Preventing Food Poisoning in Catering Services and Street Food," is being implemented comprehensively in many localities throughout Thai Nguyen province. In particular, street food vendors, catering services, and collective kitchens are undergoing increased inspections to ensure food safety at the grassroots level.

At Lan Anh bread shop (Cho Don commune), ensuring food safety and hygiene is always a top priority. Ingredients such as pate, sausages, fresh vegetables, and processed meats are all sourced from suppliers with clear origins. The processing area is cleaned regularly, and food is stored in glass display cases and sorted separately to minimize the risk of cross-contamination. For ready-made products, the shop also proactively checks expiration dates and storage conditions before use.

Ms. Vu Thi Anh, owner of Lan Anh bread shop, said that the most important thing in the food business is ensuring quality and maintaining customer trust. Therefore, the shop always focuses on hygiene in the processing area, selecting ingredients with clear origins, and storing food according to regulations so that customers can feel secure when using the products.

Food safety measures are being tightened not only for street food but also in communal kitchens. The communal kitchen of Chung Jye Bac Kan Shoe Manufacturing Co., Ltd. serves hundreds of meals daily to its workers. Mr. Yan Shiu Yang, the administrative manager of Chung Jye Bac Kan Shoe Manufacturing Co., Ltd., stated that the company pays special attention to food safety in its communal kitchen area. From food selection and sourcing to the processing and serving of meals, hygiene and safety must be ensured to protect the health of the workers.

Chung Jye Bac Kan Shoe Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was also one of the establishments inspected by the provincial inter-agency food safety inspection team during this year's Food Safety Action Month. Following the inspection, the team requested the company to further complete some legal documents related to food safety compliance; and to strictly maintain quality control procedures for meals provided to its workers.

In reality, along with the development of various food businesses, the risk of food safety violations remains if management is lax or businesses lack awareness of complying with regulations. Especially in the summer, prolonged hot weather easily causes food to spoil and deteriorate, increasing the risk of food poisoning. Therefore, inspection and supervision are being intensified by authorities at markets, food stores, food service establishments, and collective kitchens in the area.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bau, Team Leader of Market Management Team No. 9, Thai Nguyen Provincial Market Management Department, said that during the 2026 Food Safety Action Month, the unit intensified coordinated inspections of food businesses in the area; promptly detecting and rectifying cases of selling food of unknown origin, past its expiration date, or not meeting food safety standards.

Besides the involvement of relevant agencies, many localities are also stepping up propaganda efforts to raise public awareness about choosing and using safe food. Messages about preventing food poisoning, using food with clear origins, and saying no to unsafe food are being widely disseminated to residential areas, schools, and businesses.

It is clear that the Food Safety Action Month is not only a peak period for inspection and supervision, but also contributes to raising the responsibility of production and business establishments and the awareness of consumers. When each establishment proactively and strictly complies with food safety regulations, and each citizen knows how to choose and use safe food, the risk of food insecurity will be gradually reduced, contributing to protecting public health through daily meals.
