Practical support
During the recent flood, the family of Ms. Phan Thi Kim Hong (village 2, Dien Dien commune) - a worker of HTH Production and Trade Company Limited (Dien Phu Industrial Cluster) was flooded up to the roof. With the support of soldiers, police and volunteers, her family promptly evacuated to a safe shelter, however, all of their belongings were swept away by floodwaters and part of the house wall collapsed. To help Ms. Hong's family overcome the difficulties, after the floodwaters receded, the Provincial Federation of Labor (FFL) visited, encouraged and gave support of 2 million VND to her family, and at the same time surveyed the actual situation, urgently completed the procedures to support 60 million VND to build a new house for Ms. Hong's family. The company and the company's union also allocated funds to support the family. Ms. Hong shared: "The companionship and support of the union organization is the motivation for us to soon stabilize our lives and feel secure in working with the enterprise."

| Leaders of the Provincial Labor Federation visited and learned about the employment situation of workers at Hoang Thanh Do Luong Production and Investment Joint Stock Company. |
On the first day back to the factory, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhan, a worker at Khanh Hoa Forestry and Aquatic Products Processing Joint Stock Company, and 125 other workers were visited by the Provincial Federation of Labor, who gave each person 1 million VND in support. Mr. Nhan shared: “My house is in Dien Dien commune, in the flood-prone area, with water up to 1.8m. When the water receded, all of my family's assets were gone, leaving me penniless. In the past few days, the Provincial People's Committee, local authorities, units, businesses, and philanthropists have come to my house to encourage and provide timely support. Now that I have received support from the union, I am very grateful. That encouragement has helped my family stabilize our lives soon.”
To share the difficulties with workers affected by floods, the grassroots trade union, together with the Board of Directors of HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., quickly issued a special support policy for all workers in the unit. Mr. Le Van Toan - Deputy General Director, Chairman of the company's grassroots trade union, said that on November 25, the unit immediately transferred 1 million VND/person to the accounts of 3,120 workers. At the same time, based on statistical data, the company's trade union also supported 464 union members who suffered heavy losses with 500,000 VND/person. Although the damage was more than 40 billion VND, when mobilized by the grassroots trade union, the leaders of Saigon - Khanh Hoa Beer Joint Stock Company allocated funds to support 66 workers with 5 million VND/person who suffered heavy losses and 1 million VND/person who suffered light losses. At the same time, the union and the company also provided clothes and necessities for workers to use for 3 days...
Accompanying workers
Immediately after receiving information about the damage at businesses, industrial parks and more than 7,000 union members and workers affected, the Provincial Federation of Labor issued a support plan for union members and workers with a level of 1 - 2 million VND/person; support for building new houses 60 million VND/house, repair 30 million VND/house. The total support amount of nearly 10 billion VND was taken from the regular expenditure source of the Provincial Federation of Labor, Khanh Hoa Trade Union Charity Fund and other support sources. Leaders of the Provincial Federation of Labor also directly went to deeply flooded areas, areas where workers lived to survey and encourage. The image of union officials going to each row of boarding houses, visiting each situation has become an important spiritual support for workers. Each gift, although not large, has practical meaning, helping workers have more conditions to repair appliances, buy necessities and cover living expenses in the most difficult days after the flood.
Not only providing material support, trade unions at all levels also pay attention to closely monitoring the situation of enterprises, especially those whose factories are flooded, machinery is damaged, causing production to stagnate; coordinate with relevant agencies to grasp recruitment needs, temporarily transfer labor, and help workers not lose their jobs while enterprises overcome the damage. Mr. Phan Thanh Liem - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation said: "In the context of widespread damage caused by floods, the most important task of the trade union is to accompany workers, not leaving anyone behind. We have asked grassroots trade unions to fully and accurately count the level of impact to develop timely support plans, to the right people, and to the right needs."
In addition to the efforts of the trade union, local authorities are also simultaneously implementing measures to overcome the consequences of floods, from repairing roads, clearing sewers to ensuring electricity and water safety. In this process, trade unions at all levels play the role of a bridge between the government and workers, promptly reporting any difficulties that arise, ensuring that workers soon return to a safe working environment. Propaganda work is promoted through trade union channels to help workers grasp information about financial support, preferential loans, medical examination and treatment after natural disasters, and guidance on skills to ensure safety and prevent floods in the coming time...
