Báo Đắk LắkBáo Đắk Lắk01/12/2025

During the days of rising floods in Dak Lak , comrade Nguyen Thai Hoc, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central organizations, was present in the working group to directly coordinate with the provincial leaders to direct the response, relief and recovery work. When the floodwaters receded, he visited the families that suffered heavy losses. “The floods this time are too great! My heart is heavy when witnessing the losses and pains present in every house, road, hamlet, through the eyes of the people devastated by natural disasters,” comrade Nguyen Thai Hoc shared.

From the countryside still deeply affected by loss, comrade Nguyen Thai Hoc directly connected with leaders of banks, businesses and philanthropists, calling for their cooperation to ease the losses that people are suffering.

He added that these days, Dak Lak children across the country are anxiously following news from their homeland, eager to know what their compatriots need and how they can help.

In Hanoi , the association of fellow countrymen continuously met to discuss and propose many practical support plans to help people soon stabilize their lives and restore production. Many groups and individuals also expressed their desire to join hands to contribute and support their fellow countrymen to overcome difficulties.

In particular, comrade Ha Dang, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Ideology and Culture Committee (now the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee) and comrade Thai Phung Ne, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Minister of Energy, former Secretary of Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee - the children of Phu Yen - despite their old age and weak health, still always yearn for their homeland, mobilized their families to join hands to contribute and support the people who suffered heavy losses due to floods. Their hearts and actions became a source of encouragement, adding strength to the emergency relief efforts in Dak Lak.

While the localities in the East of Dak Lak were struggling with floodwaters, Mr. Luu Cong Nguyen - a native of Hoa An (now Tuy Hoa ward), currently living in Ho Chi Minh City - felt like he was sitting on a pile of fire. The phone rang continuously, hundreds of calls and messages asking for help from friends and relatives poured in. He choked up and said: "I was so worried that I had a fever. All night I couldn't contact my parents who were in the deep flood area, I could only find the number of the rescue force to ask them to save the people and save my family."

Without waiting for the floodwaters to recede, he immediately mobilized friends, colleagues, organizations and businesses to join hands to support the people. Less than a day later, the first truck loaded with instant noodles, rice, clean water, clothes, medicine, etc. headed straight for his hometown. But before reaching the flooded area, the truck suddenly overturned in the middle of the road. “Seeing the relief goods spilled onto the ground, my heart ached. Unable to turn back, I immediately hired another truck to continue delivering the goods. The people were waiting!”, he recalled.

During the recent historic floods, Dak Lak has experienced many losses. But it is also in these difficult times that we are more deeply aware of the great affection of the people of the whole country towards Dak Lak with sincere and warm sharing. It is the solidarity, kindness and responsibility of the people of the whole country that has given Dak Lak the strength to quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters, stabilize life and restore production."

In the following days, nearly 200 tons of relief goods were continuously transported by him and others to the lower reaches of the Ba River, then distributed to every small alley and poor neighborhood still covered in mud. “As long as there are people in need, I will continue to go,” Mr. Nguyen firmly affirmed.

After days of historic floods, Dong Hoa ward was littered with mud, damaged vehicles and roofs that had not been cleaned yet. On the small roads, many motorbikes were still covered in mud, lying motionless, making it a challenge for people to get around.

Amidst the chaos, the activities of volunteer mechanics from Motorcycles TV High-Tech Motorcycle Training Center, Ho Chi Minh City Engine Equipment Association and Automobile Business Club became truly precious. With their hands covered in engine oil, they removed each wheel, checked each spark plug, air filter, and changed the oil for each damaged vehicle. Not only did they bring tools and spare parts, but the volunteer team also brought with them the spirit of sharing and connecting the community after the flood.

With the desire to help the people in the East of Dak Lak who are struggling to bear the heavy losses caused by the floods, a group of nearly 20 electricians moved from Ho Chi Minh City to the flood-prone areas to repair damaged household appliances for free. Mr. Hoang Thuong Giap, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Refrigeration Association, shared: “Our brothers in Dong Thap, Binh Duong (old) and many other places also came to participate. Flooded furniture and equipment will be cleaned, dried, maintained and re-checked. Damaged items will be replaced with new ones.”

Militia, teachers and army forces stepped up to help clean up mud at An Ninh Tay Primary School.

After the flood receded, many medical teams from Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi), Military Hospital 13, Military Hospital 17, Military Hospital 87, Military Medical Department of Dak Lak Military Command... were present, bringing medicine, equipment, relief gifts to examine and treat patients, provide medical support to localities that suffered heavy damage after the storm and flood, and support people in flooded areas to check and take care of their health. Military Region 5, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Public Security also increased thousands of officers and soldiers to help people "clear the flood".

These days, volunteer groups are flocking to the eastern localities of Dak Lak. For many volunteers, the trip is an emotional one, a command from the heart.

The support of the forces and volunteer groups has created a flow of love, extending from hearts across the country to every home in the flood-affected area. They not only provided essential material relief, but also gave strength and hope to the people of Dak Lak to firmly overcome difficulties and gradually restore their lives after the historic flood.
