Mr. Nguyen Kim Duc Hien, Principal of Au Co Primary School, said that storm No. 13 and the flood on the night of November 18 and early morning of November 19 caused heavy damage to people in areas 5 and 6 of Quy Nhon Tay Ward (where the school's students live).
"About 70 houses had their roofs blown off, including 15 houses with almost all their roofs blown off. The school also had its classroom roof blown off. Just after it was repaired, the flood came again," said Mr. Hien.
During the recent flood, water rose from half a floor to the roof of many students' houses. 195 students were severely affected. By the afternoon of November 24, 76 households were still isolated and their houses were still flooded. At noon on November 24, the school leaders and the Parents' Association presented 120 gifts including rice, cakes, milk, etc. and 40 warm blankets to the affected and isolated households.
On the morning of November 24, 152 students were unable to go to school, and the school was unable to contact all of their families. In the difficult situation, the school contacted many benefactors for support. However, it was still not guaranteed, many students had to wear old clothes to school.
As for textbooks, from the beginning, the school proactively prioritized donations of old books and sponsorship from benefactors, so there were enough for all students to study from the first day of school. As for the books and pens that students went to school on the morning of November 24, the school temporarily gave each student 5 books and 1 pen.

According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Duc Hien, Principal of Au Co Primary School, many students have to wear old clothes to school after two natural disasters.
