Gia Lai calls on ships to return to take shelter from storm number 15 safely

Currently, storm number 15 has entered the East Sea and strongly affected vehicles and ships operating at sea.

According to the Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Gia Lai province, the Central East Sea area (including the sea area north of Truong Sa special zone) has strong winds of level 7-9; the area near the storm's eye has strong winds of level 10-12, gusting to level 15; waves 4.0-6.0m high, the area near the storm's eye has waves of 7.0-9.0m; the sea is very rough. Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by storms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and big waves.

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 15, the Border Guard in coordination with localities has announced and called on about 5,450 ships with over 39,000 fishermen operating in the sea areas to take shelter, anchor at ports and operate near shore.

As of the morning of November 27, there were still 253 vessels with 1,574 fishermen operating at sea in the East Sea. These vessels have also received notice from the authorities and are heading to safe havens.

In response to storm No. 15, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province issued telegram No. 21/CD-UBND requesting the People's Committees of communes and wards to prepare response plans for storm No. 15 and subsequent natural disasters.

Localities need to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of the storm; strictly manage vessels at sea; organize monitoring and counting of ships and boats operating in areas affected by the storm; notify owners of vehicles and captains of ships and boats (including transport ships and tourist boats) operating at sea of ​​the location, direction of movement and developments of the storm to proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur. Take measures to ensure safety for ships and boats at anchorage areas.

Forces are ready with human resources and rescue vehicles to promptly handle any dangerous situations that may arise.
