At the flood epicenter of Tay Nha Trang ward (Khanh Hoa province), students have returned to school, however, books and uniforms have been swept away by floodwaters or submerged in mud.

On November 25, after the recent historic flood, teachers and students at Vinh Hiep Primary School (West Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province) returned to school, however many children did not have uniforms or books because they were swept away by floodwaters or were submerged in mud.

Vinh Hiep Primary School is where a few days ago floodwaters rose nearly 2 meters high, damaging the school's computers and leaving classrooms and desks submerged in mud.

Ms. Nguyen Nguyen Kim Khuong - Vice Principal in charge of Vinh Hiep Primary School - said that thanks to the support of the armed forces, the school has basically cleaned up the mud and dirt, ensuring conditions for students to go to school.

However, many students do not have uniforms or books to study due to flood damage, and many teachers cannot go to school because they have to clean up their houses after the flood.

About 4km away, Vinh Hiep Kindergarten (West Nha Trang ward) is still in disarray after the flood, all school supplies, dishes, chopsticks, tables, chairs, swings... are submerged in mud, many walls have also collapsed.

At the flood center of Dien Khanh commune, nearly 100 officers and soldiers of Naval Region 4 and teachers of Dien Son Primary School are still cleaning the school yard. Tables and chairs have also been cleaned. Currently, soldiers are bringing tables and chairs into classrooms to rearrange them.

Mr. Le Dinh Thuan - Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province - said that the department has established 4 inspection teams at educational establishments heavily affected by floods to direct the recovery work and prepare appropriate teaching and learning plans.

According to Mr. Thuan, the armed forces are continuing to support schools in cleaning classrooms and schoolyards. Some schools, after completing cleaning, are sprayed with disinfectant to ensure safety before welcoming students.
