More than a month after launching the National Campaign "Anti-Online Fraud 2025", the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05) in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Association and Tiktok Vietnam continues to promote the campaign to further strengthen communication activities and raise awareness for consumers to adapt to the peak year-end shopping season, which can be a hot time for online fraud.
More than 85% of Vietnamese consumers have shopped online. Unofficial statistics from some independent market research units suddenly became an indirect warning, when official information from the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05 - Ministry of Public Security ) said that since the beginning of the year, Vietnam has discovered more than 125,000 fraudulent websites, with losses due to online fraud reaching nearly 20,000 billion VND. Media forces are looking for ways to bring this warning to the people in the most understandable and recognizable way.
The national campaign "Anti-Online Fraud 2025" was officially launched in mid-October to guide people on how to identify online scams. At the same time, the management agency also required mandatory identification and electronic authentication for online sellers. To create a real "community shield", these efforts are continuing to be deployed and upgraded to help consumers stay alert to scams.
Mr. Vu Duy Hien - General Secretary of the National Cyber Security Association (NCA) said: "We do not stop at the perspective of students, students, and the community, but in the future we will expand our scope to include organizations, businesses, and state agencies, which need to be aware of online fraud activities."
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade , the scale of online retail sales in the domestic market this year reached about 32 billion USD. The peak shopping season at the end of the year will cause e-commerce sales to skyrocket, possibly reaching more than 100,000 billion VND. A great opportunity for the e-commerce market, but also contains many potential risks.
The Cyber Security Department recommends that consumers should always be alert and equipped with knowledge to recognize scam traps to together create a safe shopping season at the end of the year.
