Three consecutive wins help PSG maintain the number one position in Ligue 1, but Marseille is close behind so Luis Enrique's team must defeat Monaco at Stade Louis II to consolidate their top position.
However, despite not having stable form and being outside the top 8, Monaco entered the game with great determination, causing PSG to have many difficulties in developing the ball despite controlling the game.

The first half was a tight affair with few clear-cut chances. Monaco almost opened the scoring when Minamino volleyed dangerously but was brilliantly saved by Chevalier.
In the 40th minute, Salisu put the ball into the PSG net but the goal was disallowed due to offside. At the end of the half, Balogun almost escaped to face the ball but Lucas Hernandez intervened in time.
In the second half, PSG accelerated but Kvaratskhelia missed a golden opportunity in the 54th minute. That waste was costly when in the 68th minute, Golovin passed the ball to Minamino to finish diagonally, putting Monaco ahead.

In the 80th minute, Kehrer received a red card after VAR intervened, leaving Monaco with only 10 men. However, the home team actively retreated, defended firmly and did not allow PSG to create any more significant opportunities.
Winning 1-0, Monaco temporarily climbed to 6th place, while PSG missed the opportunity to consolidate the top spot.
